Mizzou earns 6 seed against 11 seed Drake

Probably the worst draw possible for our seeding but can't complain about being a 6.

Brother went to Drake. Says obviously a good coach but first year. They obviously are solid with 30 wins but he doesn’t think they can match Mizzou. No size to speak of. They do very well slowing the game down but feels they do it to mask the deficiencies on the team. It’s March, anything can happen, but if you can’t beat Drake you probably weren’t going to beat many teams. They’re all good.

Live down in SWMO. Hear a lot about Drake because they are in MO St's conference.
For the last several years they have been a good team that lives by the 3, plays smart and disciplined, and therefore are a dangerous opponent in any game.
Their current coach is in his first year there. They grabbed him from Northwest MO St, where he had lots of success at the lower level there.
I don't know if Evangel or Drury in Springfield played NWMS, but lots of people seemed to know McCollum when he got hired at Drake. Consensus was it was a really smart hire and there was a lot of confidence he would be successful at Drake.
I think if we can play solid defense against the 3 consistently through the game and be smart on offense, we will knock them off and on to the second round.

This is the type of game Mitchell should dominate playing against an undersized roster. I wonder if Gates will have us in full court press to try to speed the game up

They’re a less talented UVA of yesteryear. A pain in the arse style wise but, no reason Mizzou shouldn’t outsize and outrun them.

MU is too long, fast and deep for Drake. I expect MU to pull away in the 2nd half.

three years in and gates has nothing remarkable to show for it other than 0-18.

6 Ls in the last 8 games. Either the players quit caring enough or they ran out of gas and could not figure out how to overcome that.
Either reason leads to some uncomfortable, but fair, questions for the coaching staff.
It's a shame. This team has potential and had a path to a rematch with FL.
