Will we ever see a dynasty in any major college sport ever again?

I think we may see a team win a couple in a row, but the days of teams - like Alabama in football - building 10-15 year runs as an elite program are over. When you hear Saban talk about teenagers sitting across from him and they no longer want to hear about the football program or how they can improve their game, but simply want to know how much money they can make in NIL, that's not a good thing.

Even "super agent" Drew Rosenhaus, who now represents high school, college and NFL players, said there is no way college football can continue under the current setup where there are basically no rules. He said the minute he negotiates an NIL package for one player, the next player wants to top that deal and it's never ending because there is no cap or any guidelines to follow.

I guess the good news is there will be more parity in college football, but there will also be no commitment from the players, so it will just become a revolving door of new players each year.

There will be some teams knocking out the top teams more often than you think. NIL and the new transfer rules change have a huge effect on the outcome.

Low IQ folks keep saying this but the big dogs keep recruiting the most talent and winning titles.

Exactly, what seems to be happening is that instead, success has been brought out if the shadows - the "mystique" has been lost so to speak. And it's been replaced with exacting dollar figures, NIL budgets, unlimited transfers, etc.

Runaway free agency has driven much of European soccer bankrupt, seems only a matter of time for CFB if they don't get things together very soon

Give us your definition of dynasty.

A quick search mentioned the 49ers with three championships from 84 to 89.

The Celtics were mentioned from 81 to 86 with 3 as well.

Nothing really tops sabans years at Alabama for me in college football.

But did the patriots have two dynasties or just one long one from 2002-2019?

You could say they have two dynasties winning three from 02-05 and then three from 15-19.

The number seems to be three in a very short amount of time.

Sabans biggest dearth between championships was only three years.

——-and so yes, I can see a dynasty happening in college football again. An SEC or big10 team can rattle off three in a 6 year period. I still think it’s feasible. But hard to do.

I will venture to say that three in a row almost seems statistically impossible.

Uga, usc and Alabama came close.

If we pay players and make them sign multi year contracts things will mostly be back where they were except the players will be getting paid upfront instead of by bagmen

There has never been a 16-year run in modern college football history like the one we just witnessed under Coach Saban and the University of ALABAMA. That's true when it was a beauty contest, the BCS, or the 4 team playoff. So, I seriously doubt it.

There's a good chance with Auburn's Equestrian & Mizzou Disc Golf programs but nothing else.

A dynasty is there for the taking now. Open the checkbook and buy one.

All it takes is one insane billionaire alumnus to liquidate everything and buy the top 30 recruits.

We're just lucky nobody has been insane enough to do that yet.

There's always a chance but I think the likelihood is very slim. The current landscape of CFB doesn't promote the things it takes to have a dynasty which is to keep the core of teams together. It's free agency on steroids.

It’s a good thing for the players, which is who CFB is supposed to benefit.

Of course it can.

As long as we don't come up with rules (which only punish law-abiding schools) then Texas is about roll with a vengeance.

You are right. Your women's rowing team is kicking butt and taking names. Dynasty in the making for sure! Congrats!

Recipe could be more complicated. aggy outspends Bama, Michigan and Gator annually. Always top 5 in NIL spend. With all that money to payoff players, coaches and build facilities, aggy couldn’t even beat a 6-6 USC team in Vegas Bowl.
