Question about “Glory Road”.

Watch this movie for the first time. I saw this UK team play in 1966 in Auburn. In the movie I was surprised to see the confederate battle flags being waved by UK fans in the stands. I recall fans commonly waving them at football games but I don’t recall ever seeing UK doing this. What say you BBN?

If you haven’t realized by now that there has been a significant agenda by Hollywood and the media to de-grade white males, show mixed couples in a huge % of commercials, then I just don’t know what to say.

I was very young at the time but don’t remember that. The band played Dixie at football games but that was about it.
Rupp tried to recruit Butch Beard in 1963 and got death threats for it. But the movie needed a bad guy so he was demonized and facts be damned.

I’m old.. I lived through some of those years.
I remember the white/colored water fountains etc.
The Confederate flag was flown pretty commonly at sporting events, concerts etc. The playing of Dixie was pretty common place as well.
The Civil Rights movement was in full tilt and lots of folks were pushing back against what they viewed as Yankee meddling in the affairs of the South.
Obviously movies dramatize things, but things were pretty different in those days and not for the better.
The movie did paint Rupp as some kind of racist villain and I think that is complete crap. There’s no indication he was a racist.
Some do the same with Bryant to a lesser degree by somehow claiming he could have integrated Alabama Football whenever he pleased.
The social turmoil of the day was actually bigger than Bryant and Rupp.. they both had a lot of power.. but not when it came to segregation
