re: All time SEC basketball programs

I sometimes just like typing out these stats for Kentucky, but it has been a minute since they have had success in the postseason:

-8 NCAA Tournament Championships (5 different coaches have been able to lead UK to the Promised Land)…I’ve been fortunate to witness 3 of the 8.

-UK owns the best winning percentage of any team at .760 and is second to Kansas for all-time wins

-4 NCAA Runner-Ups

-17 Final Fours

-38 Elite Eights

-45 Sweet Sixteens

-2nd most NCAA Tournament wins at 131 (hopefully they pass UNC this year who has 132)

Missouri is one of a couple of SEC teams that has a losing record vs Kentucky in football.
Sometimes your mom uses it to lubricate her back door.
I grew up in Eastern Kentucky and following UK was almost a birthright. I can remember watching and listening to games with my dad as early as 5 years old. My father was a coal miner and worked 2nd shift a lot, so eventually I was in charge of taping all of the games if he was working. We would have to avoid the newspaper in the mornings sometimes and just watch the games together later on.

I ended up joining the Marines in 2005 and my dad would send me all of the sports sections from the Herald Leader while I was either in boot camp or Iraq. We got to talk via satellite phone and we would discuss what was going on.

Eventually I went to UK and earned my Master’s.

My father passed away almost 2 years ago and there isn’t a day that I don’t think about the times we would discuss what was happening with UK.

Missouri is one of the only SEC teams to have a losing record vs Kentucky.
I remember that game vividly. I was on my 2nd tour in Iraq and we were re-supplying at Al-Asad. I think I had to wake up at 3 AM or something ridiculous to watch it.
Mark Stoops is about to cash a 9 million dollar check again next year and go 3-9, maybe even 2-10.

One of the fastest guys in college and he’s been a great return guy as well. However he was a lazy route runner, dropped a few more passes than he should have, and had a few unsportsmanlike penalties at inopportune moments.

He has a lot of potential if he puts it all together, you can’t teach that speed.
I hope OSU wins, I will never root for UT in anything.
Bill Curry had Tim Couch running the option his freshman year.
Offense - F
Defense - C+
ST - C

Stoops seems to have hit his ceiling between 2018 and 2021 and it appears as though Kentucky is back to being Kentucky…I don’t think UK will fire him, but the results have been trending downward for at least the past 3 years.

Brad Stevens and Billy Donovan are pipe dreams, never going to happen.
Kentucky is 0-1 vs Texas (lost 7-6 in 1951).

1-2 vs Oklahoma, last meeting for a home/home in 80/82 with Kentucky losing both.

However, UK claims the 1950 championship after beating Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl that year. Bear Bryant was the coach.

The 1950 college football season finished with the unbeaten and untied Oklahoma Sooners (9–0) being the consensus choice for national champion. On New Year's Day, however, the Sooners were upset by the Kentucky Wildcats (ranked No. 7 in the AP and UP polls) in the Sugar Bowl. The Army Cadets, ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll, had been defeated in their final regular season game by 2–6 Navy, 14–2. However, the final poll had been issued on November 27, and the bowl games had no effect on Oklahoma's status as the No. 1 team.
I can see Kentucky winning any of those games or losing any of those games. I don’t think anyone has been predicting them to win *all* of those games. But it feels good as a UK fan to be a threat to every team left on the schedule and have them, you know, take Kentucky seriously.
As many others have said, parking off Waller is one of the best bets.
