When the last living member of your 1939 National Championship team died, did yall honor him at the next home game or anything?

I mean it is a serious question.

Say if the guy was 19 in 1939, that meant he was 80 in 2000. I'm assuming that is recent enough for the Ags on here to remember if A&M did anything to honor him or remember that team after he passed away.

ETA- love the use of this gif in your response.

Alabama single-handedly gave Johnny Manziel a Heisman after he threw 3 INTs and 0 TDs against Daddy LSU

They did acknowledge his death. Milkmen wore black that day, but they just ended up looking like chocolate milkmen.

I believe the name of the man who knelt down to kiss the turf's name was Roy Bucek. He played center for the 1939 team. He was injured in WWII and wore an artificial eye for the rest of his life. He was a prominent figure in my grandparent's town of Schulenburg where he owned "Oakridge Smokehouse" and "Bucek's Tree Farm". I did hear that he was the last surviving member and died only a few months ago

that would be dumb. What, an award for outliving people?

No, we did it the right way, we honored the entire team recently at Kyle.

Were the great-grandchildren there to accept the honor on their behalf?

Where did I say, "award" him?

Like maybe bring some family members of the guy onto the field between quarters or something of the next home game.

At least 92 is a hell of a run for someone injuried in WW2.
