Likely to cancel per Ruhle.

A trend or one off?

Can’t blame him. We had a random receiver ball out in our bowl game and get recruited right off our roster. It’s a different world now.

I wonder if it also works the other way. If a player doesn’t get much game time, or performs poorly, they may leave as opposed to sticking around.

I love spring games as a fan, but they are pretty worthless to coaches i think at this point. They would get much more out of a closed scrimmage than a vanilla one in front of fans.

At Auburn they used to use spring game receipts to fund scholarships for children of former lettermen. That would be my go to reason for it now. And he may be paranoid and they may be after his players,

How long until we see high school sports doing the same?

It's more likely that Ruhle is more worried that the existing players will get a feel for the pecking order, which of course they will. We all will lose players when the spring window opens and players start "shopping" around for more playing time.

The irony here is that Nebraska is likely the only school besides Alabama that actually sells out their spring game. It is a huge deal up there and a thing the fans really look forward to.

Speaking of which... I guess that little kid that was sick that they helped run for a touchdown in their spring game a while back finally succumbed to whatever his disease was. A very touching moment that went viral

Matt needs to think about things like that as opposed to worrying about that fact that some other team's coaches are watching.

Probably a smart move. There is not a whole lot that coaches control any longer, so control what you can.

The guy who is adept at tampering is whining about tampering.
