No bueno. Down 12% from last year's title game.

Ranked 9th out of the 11 CFP title games so far.

The ratings were 20% lower than the Alabama v Michigan Rose Bowl from last year.

And everyone tried to tell me the ratings would be HUGE lmao

They were willing to sacrifice some individual game ratings for the total

There were still tens of millions of more viewers for this years playoffs than last year because there were so many more games.

It was the worst possible date to put the National Title game on. The Inauguration, and all the festivities, took lots of eyeballs off the game.

Wait, the watered down playoff championship game had 3 million less viewers than last years? Who would’ve thunk it?

Watered down? Ohio St is the most legit champ in history. Had to beat Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and ND in the span of about 5 weeks? I don’t even like Ohio St but their title is anything but “watered down”

They got hot at the right time but they wouldn’t have been in the playoffs last year. I give them credit for fighting adversity after losing to Michigan but that loss would keep them out normally.

There were simply too many games with the regular season, conference championships, bowl games, and playoff games. Fatigue had set in and the inauguration festivities simply provided something else to have on as background noise. Don’t tell me fans of college football were jazzed up about presidential balls with network talking heads endlessly providing commentary.

Ratings will be the same or worse next year. The college football product has been watered down and the teams are hired assassins. College football is not the same product it was 5 years ago.

4 games in 51 total days -

had 20 days to prepare for UTK because of failing to qualify for their league CG after losing season finale at home to a 6 win rival -

had 10 days to prepare for a rematch with Oregon -

had 8 days to prepare for the Cotton bowl -

had 9 days to prepare for Atlanta -

Chip Kelly was great in the NFL after bye weeks too - not so much in a regular work week of 6 or less days

eta - not surprised at all by the ratings drop - the CFP has jumped the shark with its extra week in January - the two supposed biggest brands playing last Monday and having awful numbers confirmed it -

I didn't watch one snap and it felt good TBH.

Frick em. That's what they get for shoving this 12 team bs on us.

Go back to 4 teams.
