247 is reporting it. Guy can recruit his balls off, and the south florida connection will be nice to have again.

Players love him

I still wish we would have gotten to hold on to what we had but this is a good return. Just hope it was DJ’s choice.

hmmmmm

ETA: it would be quite interesting to hear his thoughts on coaching at AU during that time frame

Huge for someone who seems to be one of the good guys. Mediocre situation to being connected with DJ Durkin in the SEC. Let's go.

We have separate coaches for inside LBs and outside LBs?

One coach can't handle coaching inside and outside LBs? Jesus, what a racket college football is...

We have 11 coaches and 10 assistant coaches. 21 coaches for ONE team. Why? It's still just football no matter how big the stadium is or how many cameras on filming. IT's just 11 on 11.

Yeah, I know all teams are like this. Why not just hire one coach for every freaking player.. Got as many coaches as starters now.

Nobody else thinks that's ridiculous? How much money can this sport eat up? Guess we're finding out.

I'll downvote myself too. I'm bringing down the vibe. I just enjoy hating this sport and what it has become.. ya'll continue to eat this crap up if you want..

Definitely need to get that south Florida pipeline going again. Tubs made a career off of it.

Agreed

I posted recently that I was, at the time, unimpressed with Freeze bringing over Josh Aldridge from Liberty. I forgot that it was because I hoped Freeze would retain Bellantoni

Obviously Josh thrived here. Just feels like a win-win now

Hokanson posted this timeline of Bellantoni's last 2 months:

quote:

Bellantoni was let go as defensive coordinator at Florida Atlantic in November by Tom Herman.

After Herman was then fired, Bellantoni was immediately rehired as DC by interim coach Chad Lunsford.

Then when new head coach Zach Kittley was hired, Bellantoni agreed to stay on Kittley's staff as assistant head coach and defensive ends/outside linebackers coach.

Outside and inside are 2 totally different positions now. No one runs just a straight 4-3 anymore.

Lots run a 3-4 base with one of the OLBs being the edge/Buck spot. The other OLB is a hybrid linebacker/safety. Some run a 3-3 stack which becomes a 4-2 when a backer stands up on the edge. Safety rolls down to get 7 in the box. It’s so much more multiple from back when everyone huddled and ran out of the power I.

this sounds suspiciously like Herman either a) used Roc as a scapegoat to try to save his job or 2) was just an a-hole that his defensive staff didn’t like

the fact that Lunsford hired him back as soon as Herman was out of the picture points to C) combination of a) and 2)

He would be the first to bitch about off-season turmoil and players hitting the portal and why is it happening, when having a bigger coaching staff can help that.

He also has some special teams experience so hopefully he can work a little there too

Tanner Burns is now heading to Texas St. Roc coached special teams last time he was here, so won't be shocked if it does it again.

I wonder which came first - Tanner leaving or Roc's hiring...

Was Roc hired first and Tanner took a hint?

Or coincidence?

Interesting questions but probably not related.
