Really excited about that group next year.

With Milroe gone and a new QB who is more suited for DeBoer offense I think we are gonna be really really good. And with people doubting our program now we should have a chip on our shoulder

Agreed, looked much better near the end of the season and showed some growth and also seemed to have a little nastiness to them…

That would be legit with Domani and Zabien at CB. Who plays nickel, Red Morgan?

The way Bama's defense was hitting at the end of the season was exciting. Even when they weren't executing as well earlier in the season, I saw improved fundamentals in terms of pursuit to the ball, gang tackling, wrapping up, etc. It took multiple seasons to wash away Golding's brand of iso arm tackling but I think we're finally there. Defense also had a bit of a killer instinct at times, such as getting the stop at the end against Georgia or holding Tennessee to a field goal after Milroe threw it away on fourth down inside our own 25.

I hope these trends continue next year. I'd like to see growth from Wommack in terms of in game adjustments and prep for unconventional offenses.

We're a QB away in 2025 with a little better OL play.

Or you know, DaShawn Jones. The incumbent starter.

I’m interested to see where Zay Mincey plays. He’s talented. Moved to safety during the season.

Barring injury this defense should be stout. Would be incredibly helpful if Steve Mboumoua could adapt/learn the defense quickly and provide some meaningful snaps along with several of the younger defensive linemen.

He’s an early enrollee. I think that he will play this year. I saw a picture of him during a game at his junior college this year and he’s a beast.

I am HYPED for the defense next year!!!

But, I think its just 8, losing Moore, Campbell and smith.

Honestly Hubbard might be the best of our backfield, but can we count him since he played the same Position as Saab. Either way defense won't be the problem.

WE NEED A DETAILED THREAD FOR THE 2025 DEPTH CHART!

Felt like Hubbard was actually playing out of position but acquitted himself well demonstrating good range in a free safety role. In my opinion, he's probably our starting strong safety next season with Sabb going back to free safety.

Our lads is saying he played strong safety this year.

Alabama 2024 depth chart

but I know Moore was out vs Michigan, I wonder what they position they stuck Hubbard at that game. Wasn't really paying attention.

I agree though, he was an absolute ballhawk and always making huge clean hits.

I don't really see that much weakness for the D next year besides DT, really excited for the LB room as-well. Especially if we get Lawson back sooner than later.

Sabb and Hubbard are both strong safeties

Mincey and Howard are who I expect to be at free safety.

Sabb could slide to free.

Jones, Calhoun, and maybe Mincey at star

If they go to a dime package, Morgan would be a good fit there.

“Incumbent” is an interesting way to put it. He started one game solely because of an injury. Not even sure Jones starts if not for the Mbakwe debacle. Jones may end up being the guy there, but I don't really consider him a returning starter.

Totally got it flip-flopped. You're 100% correct. All I know is Hubbard played too well to get relegated to the bench. They're going to reconfigure the safety group a bit, I imagine.

I agree with you and I think Sabb can probably play deep safety. Hubbard probably could too, but his physicality seems a little better than Sabb's so he's probably a better piece close to the LOS.
