alabama would have to dish out $70 million to fire him next season.

“Through public records requests, outlets, including AL.com, confirmed DeBoer’s eight-year, $87 million agreement with the university.

DeBoer’s contract will run through Dec. 31, 2031. Compensation will start at $10 million annually and increase by $250,000, topping at $11.75 million in his final season. By comparison, Saban’s first coaching contract with the Tide in 2007 was for eight years and $32 million.

Should DeBoer be fired “without cause,” he will earn 90 percent of his remaining deal in monthly installments through the end of his contract term. If DeBoer terminates the contract, Alabama is owed a $5 million buyout in 2024, $4 million in 2025 and $3 million in 2026. From 2027-31, there is no payment owed from DeBoer to the school.“

No reason to fire a coach who wins 9 games his first year, and beat Georgia and LSU.

They will give him another two years, at least, unless there is a total implosion.

Dude, don’t you have a family to spend New Year’s with? Kinda fricked up and insecure to be researching a coaches contract. WTF is wrong with people?

If he misses the playoffs again next season I question that assumption.

@ FSU
Wisconsin
@ Georgia
Vanderbilt
@ Missouri
Tennessee
@ South Carolina
LSU
Oklahoma
@ Auburn

With that schedule it’ll be tough to get 10 wins.

That's because you have no idea. Unless he misses a bowl game next year he will get three years

Hasn't bama had more coaches than Auburn since 1980? ( Bryant and Shug)

As with everything context means a great deal. If he drops 3 games next year to unranked teams with his teams looking completely unprepared, he may not nor should he. I'm a big Bama fan outside of UGA. IMHO it wasn't so much that he lost, but how horribly unprepared his offense appeared when he lost. It's like he comes in with a plan with absolutely no flexibility if it doesn't work and his plan appears completely anchored around his QB with absolutely no thought of utilization of other assets in any way, shape, form or fashion. Bama has RBs that would be stars on any team they played on, yet the RB in CKB's system appear almost as a nuisance to him. It's completely baffling to me.

Question what you want. He will get 3 years minimum and he will be here longer than that unless he pulls a Fran.

You guys forget we gave Shula 4 years and he didn't even have a big buyout, and he lost to Auburn 3 years(4, but got fired after that).

Saban left him a shitty QB room and we've had 4 OC's in the past 5 years. Milroe was a Sark recruit, and maybe he would have done well in that type of offense. But he sure hasn't otherwise. He's a running QB that doesn't have the heart.

The 1 improvement was the 5 star QB in last years class, but he transferred when Saban retired.

We have a 5 star coming in this year, #2 QB in the class(overall, some have him #1, some lower). Doubtful he will start, but he could by year 3.

And I am straight up happy with our defense since the Vandy game. New scheme and all and our secondary was expected to be a weak spot this year. But they have been stingy giving up points. Michigan really only had 1 real drive today for a FG.

Yes. 10 for Alabama 8 for Auburn.

Gumps are so stupid but it was overshadowed by Saban.

I've been an Alabama fan since Bear was coach and seen many coaches come and go.

He will get the chance to prove himself, and if he doesn't then he will get fired. But they will give him 3 years.

This contract nonsense started with Florida hiring Spurrier I believe. Because stupid academia creating contracts instead of businessmen. Why lock the university up to these long term contracts with no escape clause if you hired a dud? Totally out of control like this NIL and Portal crap.

Since 1960 more Alabama coaches have retired than have been fired for on the field performance.

Bear - retired
Perkins - left for the NFL
Curry - left for Kentucky
Stallings - retired
DeBose - fired
Fran - left for A&M
Shula - fired
Saban - retired

Price was fired for off the field before coaching a single game.

I've watched them all.

Barn fired the best coach they've ever had, Gus. They've been wondering in the desert ever since. And there's nobody to lead you out. Barn would kill for a 9 win season. Barn would kill for a win over uga. If both happened in the same season, they'd fire the coach like they did Gus. Because it's a trash organization. Ghazipur landfill kinda trash.
