Jim Ellis, Voice of the Diamond Dawgs retiring

after 46 years of calling Baseball at State. A true gentleman and one of the great radio voices of an era that is slowly dying. He started calling State baseball games in 1977 when no other SEC team really cared about baseball. Through the years most State fans will mute the TV and stil listen to Jim while watching the game. In the Left Field Lounge, his voice could always be heard amongst the smell of BBQ and other foods being grilled.

Jim is one of the old guard radio guys.
We have been blessed to have Jack Cristil and Jim Ellis calling our games through the years.
Congrats to Jim and a happy retirement!

I can feel this sentence down to my core. Won't be the same without Jim behind the mic.

gonna miss the introduction to the sixt inning. ellis is a good dude and will be missed.

Damn man. Well deserved retirement but losing him and Jack in the booth over the last decade and a half sucks.
My dad likes Jim but he said no announcer would irritate him more calling a baseball game.
