Holy shite!

I guess we now wait after the playoffs/January the true amount of players leaving us

This free agency is truly the wild wild west and you can buy any player if you want to spend the money.

That is 2 years in a row for them to lose a TON of talent

Bama's big mistake was signing the 15 year contract with Learfield.

The majority of the staff there are from Texas.

Saban was opposed to it, but it was approved anyway...

I sure am glad we won our championships when it was still fun. I think this years playoff is looking amazing, but the NIL and transfer crap is destroying the game and I am quickly losing interest.

I hate the NFL and that is what this is beginning to look like, but worse.

Agreed. Even good teams not in the playoffs about to be playing second and third string everywhere.

Why is the NCAA allowing this December portal window to occur?

Probably has nothing to do with the current state of things, but if anyone stands to benefit from this mess it will be the NCAA being able to wag their finger and say, “We told you this would happen.”

Out of our 24 starters, only 1 is a portal player, the same as it was in 2021.

The bowls will lose revenue and it will get in their pockets and they will react.

They are afraid of more losses in court

Or they ban the bowls, make mega conferences , and it’s playoffs or nothing. Although, the playoffs would probably be 16-32 teams.

That's more circumstantial. Yurosek contributes significantly. RaRa and Colby would have, were it not for off-field trouble.

Building a team with portal players is antithesis to how Saban built his teams and Kirby is cut from the same cloth. For every Malaki Starks there are 9 Sam M’pembas who need time to grow into being a starter by their junior year. Now they can transfer, make some quick cash, and start on a weaker team. See Bear Alexander. It may not hurt now, but it will in a couple years when these guys would be ready to compete in Kirby’s system.

The way I see it, the blue bloods are going to have to drop big money on freshmen starters and supplement other positions with lesser loyal players. These freshmen superstars will move to another team every year cashing in on more NIL money. Look at the speculation over Ryan Williams. Five years ago he’d be nuts to leave after his freshmen year. Someone better be ready to pony up some cash for KJ Bolden.

Hope we don’t experience the same after our last CFP game but I’m afraid we will.

It is the downfall of the sport. Ratings will suffer. Especially this weekend the ratings will suffer on Saturday early game: noon and 4:00 because they are going up against the NFL. Whatever. It is what is is now. I'll watch the CFP, but they've moved those games to TNT because they know they are going to get wrecked by NFL ratings on Saturday

I don't think so

They'll hold their own.

Both NIL and portal are easy to fix. They clearly don’t want to though.
Put a cap on NIL amount and make them sit a year after transferring like they used to.

If they had matchups between the true 12 best teams in college football, I think they'd do fine head to head with the NFL. But no matter how hard the cfb bureaucracy tries to sell Boise St, SMU, Indiana, and teams like that, most fans around the country don't believe those teams are among the top 12. There's not evidence to support that claim because of those weak schedules. If there's competition for eyeballs, that's a potential problem.

No they wouldn't. They'd get trampled. There are large, densely populated regions of this country (the Northeast and West Coast) that don't give a shite at all about college football but love the NFL. That and fantasy football are why CFB will always lose the ratings war.

If the TV people really thought they could match up against the NFL, Indiana/ND would be at 4:00 on Saturday.
