This is what he thinks those changes will look like:

It’s going to 16 teams next.
The idea that pate is pushing is just ignorant.

I don't think it's ignorant, if your borderline it gives you a shot to get in instead of leaving it up to someone else's opinion. I see no problem with play in games

Would be better than this although still flawed as an SEC 5 is often better than a Big 12 1 and therefore punishes teams for being a part of a difficult conference

More changes? There is no way they can frick up college football worse than they’ve already have.

Going to disagree with him about that being a bad idea. The idea of having play in games for two spots to represent your conference sounds fricking awesome.
The top two are guaranteed spots if they make the conference title game.
Then 3 plays 4 and 5 plays 6 for the other two spots. How is that a bad idea?

I didn’t even watch I just assumed it was going to be a terrible idea. Everything in the past 10 years has been terrible ideas

How so? Puts 4 teams in from the B1G and SEC and creates another weekend of quality games to watch between the best two conferences. CCGs are dead or, at least, they soon will be.

I like his ideas in this video. Hell of a lot better than what we have now. Also expand the playoffs and guarantee the SEC like 5 spots........and bring back a computer to pick the team on a BSC style rating.

Thank you. People weren’t happy with the old poll system, then people weren’t happy with the original BCS system, then people weren’t happy the new BCS system, then people weren’t happy with 4 team playoff picked by committee, now everyone hates the 16 team playoff picked by committee.
Just STOP

I don't hate it but I have a better solution:
Use the BCS model with more weight to strength of schedule to pick the 8 best teams regardless of conference affiliation.
The fact that conference champions in weak conferences get a auto-bid is absurd and is an affront to selecting the best teams.
If teams like Boise St. want in then they need to either get in a power conference or at least schedule traditionally tougher out of conference opponents.
The SECC will always mean more because you know you will be facing a very strong power conference team and winning the game will assure your place in the playoffs.
So 8 teams would look something like this:
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Texas
4. Ohio St.
5. Penn St.
6. Tennessee
7. Notre Dame
8. Miami

Maybe Bama can make the playoffs if it’s 16 teams…..maybe not

12 is fine if they get rid of the auto bids and just go with the top 12 ranked teams.
16 is too many and 4 is way too few.
And FYI - no matter what number you put it at, there will always be bubble teams.

It should be 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 if they’re going to play those games.

There are models already in place in college football for the playoffs.
FCS has 24 teams make it. 10 conference champs and 14 at large. The top eight teams in the playoffs are seeded and receive first-round byes. Team pairing is determined by geographical proximity. No teams in the same conference get paired in the first and second rounds.
In D2, they divide the country into 4 regions, and the top 7 teams in each region get in. The top seed in each region gets a first round bye. The regions rotate as to which 2 face each other in the later rounds. Then, highest ranked team hosts until the championship game.
