I legitimately believe the SEC has 9 of the best 12 teams in the Country

I’m biased as heck, and I’m not saying we should have 9 playoff spots….but we won’t wind up with the best 12 teams.

We however will crown a fair champion at the end of the year.

I think that we have 7-8 teams that on their best day are top 10 quality teams.

But 5-6 of those also could be 6-6/7-5 quality teams on other days.

Kind of college football in this era, I think.

You aren’t wrong, many of the losses on bad days are because anyone in the SEC can beat you if you aren’t performing.

Outside of Mizzou I’d take our top 9 against anyone not named Oregon.

It’s too big. There’s never been 12 deserving teams as long as I’ve been watching college football. Hell some years we’ve struggled to find four deserving teams. Occasionally you have a fun year where there are five or 6 teams with a legit bit it feels pretty rare.

Exactly. 12 was way too much.

The SEC certainly has 12-13 of the Top 40 teams in the country, whereas half (9/18) of the Big 10 is below that level.

Miami beat the shite out of Florida in the Swamp and Vanderbilt lost to Georgia State, so are they in the top 9?

yep the thing is its how good the bottom of conference is and I think u will see it in bowl games. Dont know many conferences where OU would be 10th or lower.

I’d rather have all the deserving teams plus a few extra get in, than have even one deserving team left out.

You're talking about conference depth and the SEC is the deepest conference in the league, by far. It's not even close.

The top ten teams in the SEC could play with anybody on any given Saturday ... steel hardens steel.

No other conference can compare team by team, side by side. I dare any mealy-mouthers to even try.

The bowl season almost always proves that to be the case even with two teams in the top 4.

If this was the BCS..

Oregon / Penn State winner

vs

Texas or Georgia (perhaps Notre Dame is in if Texas loses)

If this was a 4 team playoff
1 - Oregon vs Penn State winner
2 - Texas vs Georgia winner
3 - Notre Dame
4 - Oregon, Texas, Penn State or SMU

The 12 team solution isn't perfect, but I believe it's better than both the BCS and 4 team playoff as listed above.

I prefer 16 teams going forward, and I think the $$$ and viewers will say the same.

1 Oregon vs BYU
8 SMU vs 9 Boise State

4 Notre Dame vs 13 South Carolina
5 Georgia vs 12 Miami

3 Penn State vs 14 Ole Miss
6 Tennessee vs 11 Indiana

2 Texas vs 15 Arizona State
7 Ohio State vs 10 Alabama

Idk how to rank them, but something like this is way better imo.
