Quick question, was wondering if the Tennessee guys could help me out with something…

My cousin in-law is getting married in October in TN, but has yet to set the date because she’s waiting for the TN schedule to come out, since she doesn’t want to schedule the wedding during a home game weekend.

However, my mother in law wants to commit to a trip (but the deadline to commit is tomorrow), but she can’t because she doesn’t know when the wedding will be and that would take precedence over the trip if it’s on the same weekend.

So she’s asking me if I can figure out when the home and away games are for Tennessee in October.. ??

Any way you guys would be able to make an educated guess, if not 100% certain. Thanks in advance, fellas ??

Isn’t it the opposite of this years schedule?

Dude we didn't even play all the east teams this year. I honestly don't know if it rotates or not. My guess would be you could take this years schedule and flip the home team, that would make the most sense but that doesn't mean it's correct.

October 4th or October 11th will be one of Tennessee’s bye weeks.

This year it’s

First October weekend: away
Second October weekend: home
Third October weekend: home
Fourth October weekend: bye

So you think next year is: home, away, away, bye?

If it’s flipped though, wouldn’t the bye remain the same ? Or how do you figure the bye will be one of those two weekends?

I'm thinking just home/away flipped with same teams as this year. I do not know if there is any guarantee of the order of games being the same.

Exactly ... because 3rd weekend in Oct is always the Bama game. 4th weekend used to always be the Pumpkin Bowl, Halloween weekend, Orange vs Black, South Carolina game but that ended this year. Kiffin blew the color schemes up his one year there when they came out in all black ... and upset us, kept us out of the playoffs that year.

Tennessee used to always have a bye week the week before the Bama game ... used to piss Saban off.

I think the week after bye will be the new norm ... that's Halloween weekend.

So you'll have three straight weeks in October with no games in Knoxville this coming 2025 season.

Because of fall break…there will be a bye week one of those 2 weekends. My guess the bye week will be 10/4 weekend.

08/30 - vs Syracuse (in Atlanta, GA)
09/06 - ETSU
09/20 - UAB
11/15 - New Mexico State

This is such a fricking joke. And that Syracuse game was agreed to after the Orange went 1-10

Years Tennessee had a Bye before playing Alabama with Saban as HC:

2023 - No - aTm
2022 - No - @ LSU
2021 - No - Ole Miss
2020 - No - Kentucky
2019 - No - MSU
2018 - No - @ Auburn
2017 - No - USCe
2016 - No - @ aTm
2015 - Yes
2014 - No - @ Ole Miss
2013 - No - USCe
2012 - No - @ MSU
2011 - No - LSU
2010 - Yes
2009 - Yes

2008 - No - MSU
2007 - No - @ MSU

Saban was upset that Tennessee had bye weeks 3 times in the 17 seasons he coached against them. Alabama didn't have a pattern like that. Actually...they had a pattern that was the exact opposite. They had bye weeks in the week prior to playing against LSU every season EXCEPT FOR 3 in the 17 seasons he coached against them.

Years Saban coached Alabama teams had a bye week before playing against LSU:

2023 - Yes
2022 - Yes
2021 - Yes
2020 - No
2019 - Yes
2018 - Yes
2017 - Yes
2016 - Yes
2015 - Yes
2014 - Yes
2013 - Yes
2012 - No
2011 - Yes
2010 - Yes
2009 - Yes
2008 - No
2007 - Yes

Oh yeah, okay cool. I misremembered that because Saban raised such a stink about it a couple of times and I forgot LSU turned that around on him.

Then I think Saban came back with something like, "well, I was mainly talking about THIS season" because five or six teams had byes the week before their Bama games that year and he was headed into the UT game ... but I dunno, I could be misremembering. I drink too much sometimes and combined with age and edibles I forget sometimes.

I think I do remember that, now that you mention it. There were like 5 or so SEC teams that had their bye weeks before the Bama game.
