One of the supposed benefits of a twelve team playoff was to see more big, compelling regional games. The thinking is that you could schedule up and absorb a loss, unlike the old system. If teams like Indiana are not punished for a laughable OOC, a precedent is set. Send a message to do better. It’s not, or shouldn’t be, based solely on W’s and L’s.

SEC teams should never schedule a FCS or lower program.

Kelly is 0-3 in season openers, but he is taking receipts.

Why would anyone want to have a challenging OOC game if teams can have 1 or 2 losses and sneak in without a ranked win? That makes zero sense.

Recruiting and TV viewership are two reasons I can think of. High profile games get a lot of attention and a lot of eyes on your program.

You will change your tune when the conference scheduling gods don’t smile on you so much like they did this year.

Man, I hear you, but I just don’t agree. I want one big OOC matchup and all the rest to be FBS schools. Texas opens at Ohio State next year and I’m thrilled. I want those types of games. If it costs Texas, so be it.

I mean. Ole Miss and SC played pretty weak out of conference slates.

Yea, that's all we heard last year then this year it is we had an easy schedule. The SEC built their reputation on FCS schools back.

Florida played four of the current top eight teams this year and two more in the top 25, not counting LSU, which was ranked at the time. They also only played one non-power 4 school. They finished 7-5 but I think they were a playoff team if they finished 9-3 and they had Tenn in OT on the road and led UGA in the 4th Qtr and a backup QB.

And just like that, Bama fans find a way to make the thread about LSU.

Because LSU fans never find a way to not make it about Bama

For about 8 years in a row Bama scheduled top OOC games set in a nuteral site.

Teams stopped doing it. They knew an opening season loss was hard to overcome.....especially if it was bad.

Texas is probably going to have to learn that lesson the hard way.

We never had a problem doing it. Probably still won't going forward.
