Humm. Hadn't thought of that. But you're right.

I think you gotta say and do all that in order to get the buyout, assuming he has one.

Lane is gone.

I heard it last night.

Tarheels definitely hiring him away from Ole Miss.

Any SEC HC's or assistants that might be in line for the UNC job? Clark Lea maybe?

Yeah, it looks like he is owed about $15 million over 3 years.. some of it is structured weird though, so it may be less than that..

He wasn't perfect by any means, but Mack had a damn good career.

He will probably be on Gameday soon.. maybe replaces Corso.

Nah, that would be a lateral move. Lane is looking to move up.

You serious Clark?

I could see it. The State of Mississippi's biggest problem is their 5 year contract limit..

If NC or any other school offers Lane 10 years $100 million.. or something like that, that is hard to pass up..

Lane would be the top dog in the ACC.. and would probably win the league and make the playoffs 3+ times over the next 10 years.. perhaps a lot higher than that..

It's also very possible that UNC is stepping into the SEC or B1G soon.

A good coach that was just past his prime. Don’t blame a guy for keeping on if it’s what he wants to do, but sounds like UNC was starting to trend down pretty badly.

Definitely incredible that there’s only 2 active NC winning coaches now, just goes to show how fickle coaching in this sport can be.

Very true. I do think he's kind of "aged out" of the game though.

Brown did something his first stint at UNC that I always though was brilliant. At the time NC State and even Duke and Wake would get a lot of top NC recruits. So when Brown took the UNC job he hired a couple of high school coaches of the in-state teams with the most talent as assistants at UNC. When he'd have openings he'd occasionally repeat the process.

Thought it was an inventive recruiting method in a state with a lot of teams (both in-state and out of state) vying for talent.

Only really noticed it because he hired the HC from the high school my brother went to at the time. Ended up landing about 5-6 really good recruits from that school over the next couple of years, including 3 productive OL (the guy was hired as an OL coach I think).

That kind of game holds less sway in today's recruiting though. Very smart move at the time.

Easier ACC schedule.

UNC got rich alums who are guaranteeing $40 million per year in NIL plus highest paid coach in college too.

He gone.

How long before Schumann gets the HC offer that he wants?

He is an Alabama grad right? I wonder if Ole Miss would make a run at him?

They've probably spent the last 3 years in that mode.
