1st round games are massive because winners all go to one side of the bracket while losers go to the other side. No way to cross back over.

Teams by KenPom rating:

2. Auburn
6. UConn
8. Iowa State
11. North Carolina
32. Memphis
38. Dayton
44. Michigan St
68. Colorado

Auburn and Iowa State got a shitty draw, having to play each other in Round 1. Meanwhile the two worst teams in the tournament, Michigan St and Colorado, will square off, and one will head to the winners’ side.

Would love to play 3 solid teams in Iowa State, UNC, and UConn so that would most certainly end up being 3 Quad 1 matchups.

A loss to Iowa State would lead to probably two Quad 2 matchups instead which would be a major lost opportunity.

Needless to say, tonight’s matchup is big.

Overheard a stat a few minutes ago.

#4 Auburn vs #5 Iowa State will be the first Top 5 matchup prior to the Championship round in the 40-year history of the Maui Invitational.

Hurley blew it for his team there, but he had been working on that tech the entire game.

I wouldn’t sleep on either of those teams, even with a stacked field. MSU always seems to rack some wins up in these tourneys and CU is usually a tourney team every year. Most loaded Maui I can remember in a while

I don't like all the slipping that has gone on in the first two games.

Dan Hurley is the biggest douchebag in college sports right now. Glad his antics lost his team that game.
