How many of these guys actually have real business experience other than being in Academia? Why do they hand out long term contracts to these coaches with no escape clause if they prove to be failures? All they are doing is locking in financial hardship for the universities they represent. Asking for a friend

The market makes the contract(s) not the A.D.

No. They should be fired with the duds they hire. That goes back to the University Presidents and State boards of education. Stop this nonsense.

The old school ADs like Frank Broyles used to be former head coaches.
They don't do that anymore.

Jimmy Sexton is smarter than your average AD.

I think Mississippi has a state law restricting how long a contract can be given to state employees. Someone from Mississippi chime in. In my opinion this is the way to go to stop this nonsense.

Problem is that all these ADs don’t get together and share knowledge anymore.
These ADs should have semi annual meetings where they all discuss challenges facing the whole sport.
They could atleast share market knowledge so that these agents don’t bend them over and ram them in the arse with each and every contract.

That falls into anti-trust laws. You can talk about overall issues but not details like salaries.

State legislators can stop it. Don’t need Washington getting involved which I think is coming with this NIL nonsense going on.

These are all state schools, salaries/buyouts are publicly available.

States can limit lengths of contracts to state employees if they so desire. Maybe not the money but the length of time

True, but the private schools don’t disclose. Price fixing salaries is not viewed as legal.

quote:True. 4 years. However, there is a work around if the contract is with the Foundation, a private entity not covered by state laws.
