Melting over recruiting is lame. I still remember people on the Bama board melting over Arik Gilbert. Underwood could end up being a total bust for any number of reasons.

I hope this doesnt become a norm in the coming years. They have frick you money as do most of the B1G schools and all of their schools have massive alumni bases.

Yeah, I want our school to up the ante for players but that kind of money for an unproven freshman would piss me off.

Just saw that the guy who paid the lion share for Underwood to flip is a Illinois grad (4th richest in world). Why the frick would an alum of a school pay for a QB to go to another school in their conference.

I saw somewhere that his deal includes incentives. Does anyone know how these deals actually work? If we are going to do numbers this large, it needs to be related to actual on field production. Of course, some schools with more money than sense, would overpay up front and ruin the system.
