Is Texas in the same situation as Indiana?

Both play weaker schedules in their conferences. Texas lost to UGA... If Indiana loses to Ohio State... That's basically the same type of situation where they have weak resumes, but only 1 loss.

we play in a stronger conference...but your comparison is fair. If we lose to the ags we don't deserve to be in the playoffs imo.

Except Texas would have wins like aTm and a somewhat improving florida on it. Both teams beat michigan. So Indiana's signature win would be....who? Nebraska?

Texas would have a win against Texas A&M and of course the big name benefit to help them.

Indiana is an above average team that plays a very weak schedule.

Then there is OU who to Texas fans always has and always will suck, but they've hit a historic low for on the field results in the 21st century.
The worst part about this is we're also being held responsible for historical doormat Vandy actually being better than the bottom half of the SEC this year even though we played them and won?

At this point, both and Texas and Indiana are benefitting from all polls penchant for just moving up teams that win and moving down ones that lose without paying much attention to the quality of the wins.
Only in "Poll Logic" is Texas so far ahead of Georgia, for example, when Georgia has the best win of anyone this season by beating Texas on the road and the Tennessee win and both losses to Top 10 teams on the road].
However, if Texas beats Texas A&M away, they certainly will have at least one real quality win.
Seems Indiana needs to beat Ohio St to achieve that in their case.

At the end of the season UF will have a record of 6-6 which is better than what many predicted them preseason.
And again, what is IU's best win? Look at the current Big 10 standings through 10 games. Indiana has or will have played THE BOTTOM SIX! That's of of IU's entire season comprised of literlaly THE WORST teams in their league. Then throw in michigan who is currently .500 to go along with 3 cupcakes...I mean OSU is pretty much the only game throughout Indiana'a entire season that should even test them.
This is the first time I've looked at IU's schedule but holy shite I didn' realize it was that bad. If they lose to OSU they should be left out of the playoffs entirely. They won't be (probably), but they should.

Texas has a weak schedule for an SEC team this year, but it's all relative. Even with that schedule they would be 1-1 against playoff caliber teams, and Indiana would be 0-1. Vanderbilt and likely Arkansas are better than anyone Indiana has played.

This Texas team is better than last years and that team dumpstered a superior version of this years Bama team in Tuscaloosa

Close.
Texas has 2 wins over teams with winning records I believe.
Indiana has one.
Neither has a ranked win.

Arkansas and Florida are 5-5 and probably better than any team Indiana has played

Is the committee sophisticated enough to understand injuries when considering opponents?
They seem to focus on stats over context.

It's a real problem with the new super sized conferences. The schedules are so different that a couple of usual powers having bad seasons can make them extremely unbalanced.
BIG10 had a worse issue than the SEC. Schedule makers obviously saw Indiana as having quality opponents in Michigan and Washington when they put those schedules together.

Similar but Texas has more talent and opportunity than Indiana imo.
