Barring a big upset loss to Auburn, Bama feels like a lock at this point - 1 spot

Texas/Texas A&M likely a playoff elimination game assuming they win their other games - 1 spot

If Georgia wins out, they are in - 1 spot

It could come down to a beauty pageant between Tennessee and Ole Miss. Both had porous non con. - 1 spot

Sorry Missouri, you aren’t really in contention given the margin and eye test in defeats

Of course bid stealers from other conferences could change the math. But really only BYU would have a case imo for a spot if they dropped the ccg. Would be nice if they dropped one of their last 3

The SECCG game could knock a team out.

UGA loses to TN and they’re out.

A&M loses to TX and they’re out.

Bama could lose to AU which would knock them out.

Lot of football left to be played.

i think this is right, but I’d add Texas to that beauty contest if we lose to A&M and finish 10-2

im assuming we are out at that point (unless some of these other teams lose games unexpectedly). We don’t have the resume and big wins. Our big ooc win completely shite the bed this year

Tennessee done best Bama head to head. So what happens if the Vols do something that Bama couldn’t do? Beat Vandy in Nashville this year? That would give the Vols the head to head and a win against a common opponent in same atmosphere.

That’s a good point.. guess I’m assuming Bama bump here but Tennessee would probably be in. Ole Miss could be left at home

I agree, but both of those teams would have a bad loss ( Ark and UK )

and our ranking might be Top 10 still

When GA beats TN...that means that TN 2 losses are to teams that Rebs beat pretty handily....so bring on that beauty contest.

Texas in this scenario likely wouldn’t have a top 25 win.

Ole Miss gets it imho ..later in season slightly more important and rightfully. Teams should be getting better

I suspect with the blood bath that the SEC has been we will get, if we are lucky, 3 spots.

Take Arkansas as an example. Given how we've played this year I could see the Hogs stun Texas... and then get blown out by La. Tech and Missouri. There are enough average, or below average, teams in this conference that could, given the stars align, absolutely crap all over a good team's CFP profile. A loss to Arkansas for Texas would be bad. A loss to a 6-6 Arkansas team that has multiple blowout losses could be a stake in the heart.

Now that everyone can buy players "traditional" powers have lost a major advantage they used to enjoy.

understood.. but we should be #3 this week, so how far would we drop if we lose the game by 3 points?

We wouldn’t deserve to make it without a quality win though..

SECCG will be Texas vs. Alabama. Ole Miss gets in over Tennessee and UGA if the Rebs win out and UGA beats Tennessee. Can’t overrule H2H victories, especially since Ole Miss dominated UGA yesterday, something no team has done in years

Edit: I think Tennessee vs. Georgia is an elimination game and that whoever wins will be in the CFP. Georgia doesn’t get in with three losses, and I don’t think Tennessee will have the strength of schedule to get in if they have two losses

oh i agree the Hogs could beat Texas.. they also beat TN and that isn’t being held against the Vols

Someone is gonna get left out and yell at the clouds though..

Ole Miss lost to UK also.. they might all get left out in that scenario

Losing to UGA on the road isn’t the same as beating them at home. But you do you! Tenenssee having to travel to Athens is alot different than playing UGA in Knoxville, Oxford or Tuscaloosa. 10-2 Vols will be in before 10-2 Ole Miss.

Ole Miss lost at home against Kentucky. A Kentucky team that tnensssee beat by 2 possessions.

Tennessee lost to Arkansas, a team we beat by 32 points. See how this works?

Agree

I think the SEC only gets 3 and right now I'm thinking it's Texas, Georgia and Bama. I think A & M and Tenner drop one or two more each.
