I can't tell if this shot from Elko is directed at Jimbo or Kelly...

My first thought was probably someone like Kiffin…context being recruiting battles

The context of recruiting make me thinks it's directly at Kelly. But the fast talking sure sounds like Jimbo.

Jimbo 100%.
Kelly and Elko have a mutual respect, and have both said as much on numerous occasions.
Elko hasn’t said a peep about Fisher, crediting him with nothing, all season, which is pretty damn telling. And the repeated comments about change in culture has been the overall theme.

He reminds me of when Charlie Strong beat OU.

Charlie Strong went 6-7, 5-7, then 5-7.

This is true.

It’s a shot at Jimbo. And Elko’s gamble to put in a QB who played a different style than LSU prepared for paid off because they couldn’t move the ball at all with Weigman. They took advantage of LSU mistakes in the second half as even mediocre teams should (see: Vandy vs Bama).
For the record, what a dumbass comment. His first season pulled a schedule without Bama, Tenn, Ole Miss or UGA and got Texas, Notre Dame, & LSU at home. Let’s see how they do next year when all of those are on the road. Win those, then you can call yourself a “real” program.
Let’s also wait and see how they do over the next couple of weeks now that there’s game film on Reed.
What a stellar home schedule next year, too: USCe, UF, State, and Auburn. If A&M doesn’t go 4-0 on those, then it ain’t a very good football program.
I can’t imagine he’d diss a program that has won 3 nattys and played for a 4th in the last 21 years with three different coaches. That’s consistency.
The only thing A&M has done consistently is lose 4 games or more per season and lose in Tiger Stadium.

Congratulations on win almost everyone had penciled in a Tiger win after first half but your coaches made the difficult decision to make a huge change that turn things around quickly. Still a ways to go but yaw might have finally found a real Coach, congratulations!

I think it's directed at the culture surrounding a lot of college football programs. Doesn't have to be targeting 1 or 2.

Your sour grapes and stupidity noted. A$M has played three teams that were all rated in the top ten when they played. Hardly an “easy” schedule.

Did they win all of those? Are any of them in the top 10 now?

Definitely NOT Kelly.
It MIGHT be at Jimbo. I think Elko is a little resentful at some of the mess he found at A&M- not that he didn't KNOW it beforehand, just that he had and has to do a lot to overcome it.
You could tell in Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May..... that he was making MAJOR inroads, mostly by how QUIET everything was.
We literally heard almost nothing about the program, good or bad. It was very unlike A&M the past 10 years under Sumlin and Fisher. It is even the same today as far as controversy or extraneous things.
The players are all saying the same stuff, and it's all the kind of stuff you want to hear. I really think he got rid of a lot of bad apples in a very quiet way. The national media made it sound like good players were jumping off a sinking ship. In reality, A&M was scrubbing the decks and kicking off anyone who didn't want to put in the work. And they were bringing in guys that
A) they knew were hard workers
B) they thought would mesh well with the players we were retaining.
THAT is the key to this whole thing.

Haha. You DO know that Reed has played in every game and started three games for A&M, including two SEC games, right????
You also may know that Weigman has been good and bad and that Elko has always said or indicated his starter is a game by game fluid situation, right?
If LSU wasn't prepared for Reed, that would almost be criminal malfeasance by an NCAA staff.
LSU was not surprised by the move, only by the actual magnitude of the task once it arose.

Jimbo and Kelly are basically the same thing so in reality both

Yes, it's eerie how similar Strong's 2-4 start at Texas was to Elko's 7-1 start at A&M. They're practically twins, because each talked about changing the culture- something never heard of before or since by any other coaches.

At least Jimbo tripped backwards into a championship once. Kelly hasn't even done that.
