They eek by Vandy a week after being dominated by uga defense.

Texas had to get up two weeks in a row( OU, UGA). They have not had to do that all year, they’ve been in the middle lane on cruise control.. They wanted that SEC action, but they don’t know what it entails! Kirby says it every week, “humility is a week away in this league!”. Vandy is better than people think, have you watched any of their games, they do a good job at the line of scrimmage, keeping their blocks, and their QB is pretty good. Texas will go undefeated the rest of the year, and be in the playoffs, the ESPN’s will be in love with them again soon enough!

IDK but it’s starting to look like it might be a UGA-LSU SECCG. They’re starting to look really good. Lacy & Thomas would be a handful for our secondary.

In the big 12, the top tier teams were good, the bottom tier teams were garbage. In the SEC, the top tier teams are good, and the bottom tier teams are decent. That's what Texas isn't used to. It's a different grind.

In 2021 and 2022, Georgia physically beat up a few teams so badly that they didn't get right again for a few weeks. Arkansas in 2021, particularly, comes to mind.
Georgia beat up Texas pretty badly last weekend. They're probably still feeling it.

A&M at home is gonna give them all they can handle!

They are not a SEC team. They have struggled or been dominated by every real SEC team they played. Two of those were Mississippi St and Vandy. Their rude awakening is not over.

Funny all the experts were pumping the hype on the texas train.
And how in the holy hell did we lose to bama.

We've had plenty on this board pumping hype for Texas too, both for this season and last. Plenty of them scoffed a few months ago when I said I thought UGA was a better team than Texas last season. As for UGA losing to Bama, people tend to miss the most important thing about team talent. Having lots of team talent doesn't guarantee a great team, or even a good team, but it does mean they can beat anybody on any given day.
The SEC has more talented rosters than any other conference by about a mile, and Bama still has one of the most talented rosters in the SEC and the the country. Playing them at home, at night, was always a big risk, and would be again. That's what Kirby is talking about; an SEC schedule carries a lot more risk than a BIG 10 or ACC schedule.

No. NCAA football is essentially a popularity contest. Vandy is a solid and well coached team and should be ranked today, but they aren't. Also as of today Texas has played one ranked team (UGA) and were beaten like a rented mule. Outside of that game they have feasted on cupcakes and won't face another ranked team until their last game . To reinforce the point of it being a popularity contest Miami hasn't played a ranked team. Notre Dame has only played one. Despite this, they will both in all likelihood be penciled into one of the 12 slots. It's gonna be interesting in how much weight the selection committee places on SOS in making the selection process. By that time the SOS analytics will be as accurate as possible with all the schedules being played out. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Brand popularity is still gonna be a huge deciding factor. I've seen nothing in my 58 years to suggest anything different.

I agree that Texas got off light with their schedule not having to play Bama, LSU or Tennessee but in their defense sometimes traditionally good teams on your schedule turn out to be weak teams like Michigan and Oklahoma.
The game @Arkansas won't be easy and I can definitely see a loss in College Station.
But they will probably finish 10 and 2 and could get a playoff spot.
If they win out, we could end up playing them again in the SECCG.

the only way we could see texas in the secg is if they beat A&M or A&M loses a conference game, and that's a big if.

We struggled with Kentucky and State. Kentucky is worse than Vandy.
We’re pretty clearly an SEC team though.

Vanda deserves some credit. They play tough and their QB is solid. Besides, how many times have we eeeked out wins against Vandy?
