Even AJ Mccaron thinks Milroe is arse

Truly not sorry if already posted or discussed

"It's hard because I like the kid a lot and I think he's a good college player, but he's just not the quarterback that he wants to be," McCarron said Monday on a podcast with Neal McCready and former Alabama staffer Tyler Siskey. "That's fine -- there's many a different quarterback now -- but when have we seen him be accurate?
"I've been saying it from the get-go. He hasn't progressed from last year to this year, in any form."
"He still gets way up on his toe, his front toe, throwing," McCarron said. "He locks his front leg out. He falls back. He's super over-the-top. It reminds me of the way he throws it sometimes -- remember when Tyler Watts, they changed his throwing motion back in the day when he got to Alabama? He threw way over the top? He does that. Like, we haven't seen Jalen be accurate. There's plenty of times he doesn't step up in the pocket," McCarron said. "Watch him. Just watch him play. I've watched enough of his game, I've watched enough quarterbacks, played enough ball throughout my lifetime. When he escapes, a lot of times he goes back and to his right, which shows a quarterback that is not comfortable with throwing on the run. Because a lot of quarterbacks, if you're comfortable, it doesn't matter. You're gonna escape left, you're gonna escape right, you're gonna get north in the pocket. He doesn't get north in the pocket very much at all. He goes back, tries to stiff-arm guys and ends up going his right."
quote:
"I love Jalen. I think he's a hell of a player," McCarron said. "He's just not a quarterback -- a pocket guy, like he tries to be. When I think back from, I think maybe it's still in his head somewhere. Maybe he's getting bad advice from somebody. I'm not in that building with him. But leading up to the Texas game last year, when they played Texas at Alabama, they did a big thing -- Texas came out and made some statements about he's not a pocket guy, he can't throw it and beat us. Jalen turns around and does an interview, probably a day later, two days later … and says something about I am a pocket guy. I can throw the ball. That game, I was there for that game. It's like he tried to prove that he is a passing quarterback. That's not his forte. That's not his positive."
McCarron believes other quarterbacks cannot run like Milroe can but he doesn't use his feet enough.
"His biggest positive is also his biggest negative," McCarron said. "He needs to be a 1-2 read guy, [then] go."
quote:
The quarterback who preceded McCarron at Alabama, Greg McElroy, also offered critique this week of Milroe.
"There was a bunch of times where I feel like Jalen -- and this has been a problem for a couple years now -- Jalen sometimes snaps the ball without a plan," McElroy said Tuesday on WJOX. "Every snap there has to be a plan. The what-ifs. The what-if checklist on every snap. ... I just want Jalen to play and snap the ball with a plan as opposed to reacting and appearing surprised every every time he drops back and there's, like, crazy pressure."

One of Jalen's biggest problems is that the one thing he needs to be average at to really unlock everything in his skillset is something he's terrible at - the read option. If Jalen was average at making the read on the shotgun read play, it would completely change the way you could play offense. But he's so bad at it that we (a) rarely run it (this year or last) and (b) defenses don't change anything because they know 75% of the time he'll make the wrong read.
He's a QB that was built to play in a spread power run offense (like Gus') - good deep ball thrower, elite speed, big and durable - except that he is awful at the one key play that the entire offense is based off of.

Like a dollar store Cam Newton who has suspiciously been returned multiple times.

Not one lie was told n the story. So frustrating to watch and then to watch us stick with him.

Damn, if I was told I was a dollar store poster that’s been returned many times. I’d feel that in my core.

Haha that was tough, lol

Only thing I would contest is him asking

Milroe's completion percentage this season is higher than AJ's ever was while QB at Bama, and last year was about the same as AJ's first year as a starter.
Which is why Saturday (and SC to a lesser extent) was surprising. He generally hasn't been that inaccurate, especially this season.

It’s like Milroe doesn’t watch film. Or he is only watching what he has to with coaches and does nothing extra on his own time

AJ threw the fricking ball away to avoid sacks. Milroe only does this when he's in the opponents' end zone or when he's across the line of scrimmage.

Not arguing that Milroe is a better qb than AJ-that'd be dumb, I am just saying, he has been fairly accurate this season up until last weekend, where he was horribly inaccurate.

I'm not trying to be contentious with this, but just because a pass was completed does NOT mean that it was an accurate throw.
JM almost got Ryan Williams killed with a couple of balls across the middle. When the WR has to stop and come back on a throw like that, it might be a catch, but the receiver is going to pay a price and the gain will be shorter than it could've been.
This is really noticeable from Milroe with passes at or behind the LOS. He is always hitting the wrong shoulder. Dudes are going away from the flow of the play to make a catch. I'm pretty convinced it's why we don't run screens.

That's all fair.

AJ told no lies.
Honestly I wonder how much film Milroe or even our coaching staff watches.
Especially our DC

JMO but when Nick signed #4 he really had no intention of Jalen ever being the starting QB for Bama, He was signed as roster filler at the QB position. Nick and staff then shite the bed in actually signing a high-level player (recruiting or portal) and the rest is history.
Bama missed on the QB that is in his second year starting for Kirby and the QB from NC that is now the QB for New England.

I've never seen Milroe touch an iPad on the sideline.
I don't think the guy is coachable.
And nobody will ever convince me that Milroe didn't call his own number vs Michigan on 4th down in OT. There's no fricking way Saban called a qb dive on that defensive front after everything that had happened that game. Milroe was glory-seeking.

The defense back from UT #3 laid the wood to Williams. I thought the kid was really hurt from that hit on his back. He is a tuff Hombre.

Sark brought him in. I know Saban makes the final approval, but it concerned me when Sark didn't even bother to ask Milroe to come to Tejas when he bolted.
Bryce should've stayed another year. BAMA wins a natty.
It's looking like they whiffed on Holstein because Milroe is FAST.

Absolutely he played hero ball on that final play against Michigan. The way that he called out Bill O’Brien was cringe worthy. And I’m not a fan of BOB whatsoever. The sooner we can move into the next quarterback role the better. I still think that DeBoer made a critical mistake by not having a quarterback competition in the spring. If he had done even a little bit of film study on Jalen he would have known that he was not a good fit for this offense.

He really is. He got lit up in the Vandy game too, and for like a second he looked injured, and then he just popped up like a cat and ran back to the huddle.

He's not wrong. So many routes would come open if he'd step up into the pocket instead of leaving the pocket.
