Goodman is still optimistic Freeze will turn it around.

Per AL.com he also says he expects Freeze to out-perform DeBoner in the 2025 cycle.

I am in love with Goodman

quote:

Comparing the records of Harsin and Freeze is fine, but it’s kinda like comparing a previously loved automobile to a used car that caused a 12-car pile up on I-20. Harsin is the worst coach in SEC history. He didn’t win those games in his first season. Quarterback Bo Nix won those games. Being the worst coach in SEC history, Harsin then ran Nix off.

He is on the money on Harsin. Freeze to outperform DeBoer? No.

And he is a dirtbag. Supporting that guy because he made a football point you like, that is a slime you can’t wash off.

Not that DeBoer has impressed me at all with what he has to work with, but I'd say - so far - he's done about a C+ job with A+ talent, while I think I'm being generous giving Freeze a D- with C- talent.

DeBoer has taken a decent P5 team to the championship game. Freeze hasn't sniffed a championship at P5 level. Freeze will have time to prove naysayers wrong, but I think the comparisons to Alabama don't really work right now.

That’s slander of the highest order. All fun to joke and fun on football, but that is uncalled for.

Do some of you think we are firing Freeze? There is zero chance of that happening.

No, he’ll be back next year. Next year if he doesn’t turn it around, I think there will be many calls for his head.

Just what I’ve heard, but I think the contract is set up to where if they get out after next year, it will be easier financially than contracts in the past. No lump sum due right after firing and doesn’t have to be paid in under 5 years. Much easier to structure a buyout without all that.

Be easier on everyone if he could figure out what he is doing.

Freeze in his press conference whining how difficult it is to recruit and coach a team and also having to handle all the drama. How much is he getting paid per year?

I think that has more to do with what Freeze does or does not do than what we think. I think that if he doesn't immediately produce better results on the field, it will be inevitable.

Frankly, the way he has managed the team over nearly two years seems negligent.

I disagree with his strategy as well. He all but said last year was a throwaway year. I see very little difference this year. Freeze's future for Auburn that he was hired for needs to be in the present soon.

DeBoner had talent save him 3 times this year. Uat very well could have 5 losses right now if not for the talent that Auburn isn’t even close to right now.

I said it after they lost to Vandy: DeBoer was handed a Ferrari with a full tank of gas and the keys in the ignition. They only problem is it's a manual and he can't drive a stick.

Comparing the rosters the Auburn and Alabama coaches inherited is comparing apples to the tracking system of a cruise missile.

One way to look at this is that Freeze has had us in games that based on talent we should not be in.

Another is that Freeze and this team do not know what it takes to win late in games.

Both can be true and that is how I see it. We are about to break out and be who we expect to be. Looking back we could be 6-1.. Thin line between winning and losing. Our best players are young.

Agree with that assessment 100%. The team has been in every game this year. There's been bad play calling, bad execution, and bad luck. Unfortunately, there are many who take the concept of wins and losses as black and white. They then lay the blame at one spot when nit is much more nuanced than that. Reality is there is a gray area and we've been squarely in it in every SEC game. They ended up "black" when they easily could have gone "white".

Which games? Georgia is legitimately the only "good" team we have played all season. Our schedule has actually been very mild, which is why being 2-5 is even more egregious. Our next opponent (Kentucky) isn't good either, but who has confidence that we win that one? Billy Napier just blew out Kentucky.

Oklahoma is crap. Arkansas is mid. Missouri is mid and had their shitty backup QB in for half the game. Cal is not good.

Are you talking about Bama last season? Yes, we should have won with "worse talent". But the Iron Bowl is almost always close regardless of standing between the two teams.

Don’t worry, today’s Freeze presser should give us all much confidence going forward.

It was “woe is me, I’ve never had a losing season before and I’m just trying to find myself”

Even insiduated he is seeking counseling.

We’re all good.
