Vols defense flat-out breaks opposing QBs

Will Milroe survive the entire game?
Not sure if opposing teams are aware of this, but in the last four games all starting QBs have exited the game due to injury (3) or poor performance (1).
Disclaimer: I am not posting this information as a call to injuring any player, nor saying that UT defenders are headhunters. I believe this pattern is just a byproduct of high pressure defense and legal, aggressive play.
1. NC State starting QB Grayson McCall replaced late in game by freshman CJ Bailey due to injury.
2. Oklahoma starting QB Jackson Arnold replaced late in game by freshman Michael Hawkins, Jr. due to poor play.
3. Arkansas starting QB Taylen Green replaced by freshman Malachi Singleton due to injury.
4. Florida starting QB Graham Mertz replaced by freshman DJ Lagway due to non-contact injury.
If this pattern holds against Bama, we might see Ty Simpson make an appearance.

Tenner is the team I would most like to meet up with in the playoffs.

I hope we do. Would be a fun game.

That's not something to celebrate.

Is this you acknowledging how lucky the vols have been with opposing qbs?

Our identity is a physical team that runs through defenses and pounds the opposing team's QBs.
We play old school smash mouth football and i love it.

I guess you can call diving at QB’s knees on purpose smash mouth

At least OP didn't say "literally breaks quarterbacks." "Flat-out breaks" actually ain't bad.

What happened to Fat Josh's "We like to go faaaaaaaast, Pawl!" offense that moved at hyperspace?

Imagine the only reason you could beat Florida and Sun Belt Billy is because you took out their QB...

I don't approve of that low hit on Tayven and wish it never happened but it is what it is.
This is a valid stat that other teams should consider when playing us imo.
Milroe is a unit though, so he'll probably survive.

And you still lost to the backup.

Meanwhile, Tennessee's starting QB has only surpassed 200 yards passing once against a major conference opponent (including last year).
211 yards against NCSU.
Tennessee opponents haven't tried to knock him out. They're afraid the backup might be able to pass.

Heupel has proven that he's way more than just a gimmicky hurry up offensive coach. He can adapt and build his team and have them play around their strengths as opposed to weaknesses.

How do you figure? I've yet to see him do anything other than run the same hurry-up run-first offense he's always run (at both Tennessee and UCF).

Didn't Tennessee also brag about breaking Nick Chubb?
What bizarre behavior

Keep ragging on Nico while you can. He's going to be really good sooner than later. I saw three NFL level passes from him against Florida. If Heard would stop whiffing every play at left tackle, that would help Nico's progression rate. He's very close to putting it together though. It's all timing and mental stuff not physical.

It takes a lot to get me to root for Bama but Roll Tide.
