After reading miscellaneous posts about the 12 team playoff, I'm not convinced people understand the format completely. Link below to NCAA published format. Suggest that everyone read and refresh from time to time, hopefully before posting nonsense.

If you think this is worth seeing for a couple of more weeks, request it be stickied, and I'll promise to update Monday mornings.

Using AP Poll and speculating what CFP selection teams might be.
BTW, it could be any number of teams at this time for Conference Champions, CFP Selection Committee ranking, etc.
Aggy: We know you're at the top of the SEC standings list currently, but this will work itself out, keep winning.

Oct. 13 Order of seeding changes, Mississippi out, LSU in from Oct. 6 poll.
5 highest rated Conf. Champs
#01 Texas, SEC Bye
#02 Oregon, B10 Bye
#06 Miami, ACC Bye
#09 Iowa St., B12 Bye
#15 Boise St., Mountain West

Remaining 7 highest ranked
#03 Penn St.
#04 Ohio St.
#05 Georgia
#07 Alabama
#08 LSU
#10 Clemson
#11 Tennessee

It is worth noting that Notre Dame is the #12 team and would be bumped in favor of Boise State.

Should be top teams, and conference champ should not play a role in this. That said, 12 is an obscene amount. Go back to 4.

Wrong. Boise St. would be the 5th highest seeded Conference team at this time. They would be in, ND would not. Please read the link to the CFP 12 team rules.
In addition, Since ND is not in a conference they can never get a bye. They want the extra home game should they qualify for the playoffs.

That's what he said- that Notre Dame would be bumped.

I'm an idiot.
My apologies Stinger, I saw OU logo and the fight was on.
I'll do better.
BTW, I'm an old, but I still look at those TaTas, but that OU though.

No worries, mate!

I'm an old, too (64). You are never too old to enjoy a nice pair of tits.

theoretically this is true

But the committee would put the Irish in and bump one of the 4 SEC teams not named Texas…

I think the odds of *5* SEC teams being in the playoffs is astronomically small.

That being said, Alabama plays LSU and Tennessee. Texas plays Georgia. Tennessee still has Georgia. Not including other games that could see any of those teams suffer a loss (LSU vs Texas A&M for example).

I think the odds of 6 are incredibly small. 5 is very possible. 4 might be the "expected" number, but 5 is closer to a 50/50 than a 5% chance.

That loss to Nothern Illinois is a massive millstone around the neck of ND. Almost any team with the same record goes ahead of them.

The arrogance.

It’s mid-season. And you aren’t even the at the top of the SEC right now.

When you do a projection you have to put someone as the conference champ. Highest rated team from a conference is a reasonable way to do it.

If ND wins out they’re in whether they deserve it or not. Book it

"If blank wins out, they're in" applies to a shitload of teams still. Notre Dame certainly, especially with how Army and Navy are playing.
