Lets be honest, the Cotton Bowl its NOT a neutral site. But like everything with texASS they have to have some sort of advantage to keep their fans and players placated.
Okie should demand it return to a home and home, like it was in 22 and 23. No more playing texASS on texASS home turf and calling it "neutral".
Another option would be to build a big barge on the river at Wichita Falls. Might not be practical though.

Ou doesn’t get a recruiting advantage from from playing there?

It's been in the Cotton Bowl for a very long time. I wouldn't mind a home-&-home for a 2-year stretch, could be fun, but the Cotton Bowl is perfect. It's actually equidistant from Norman & Austin.

It’s literally a neutral site mile wise , fans …. Everything don’t get why you think it’s not . Just because it’s in Texas … Dallas is one of OUs location for most alumni !

Make it a Texas three step, home away neutral that way every third year you’d get a cool special vibe to the rivalry if you decide to change it up

Btw, the Cotton Bowl is actually a couple miles closer to Norman than it is Austin

I would rather drive to Norman from Dallas than Austin.

OP had got people’s motives backward

If we stop playing there they will default on their plans to buy new toilets

It may be a dump and in a sketchy location, especially after dark, but the game will forever stay at Fair Park. Besides, it’s the OG Cotton Bowl and it’s still functional. Unlike the Miami Orange Bowl and Tulane Stadium, the Cotton Bowl will forever live and have Oklahoma and Texas.

Texas is large, geographically. It's still almost equal distance even though it's in Texas. Check a map out some time.

Hell, Dallas and north Texas are more Sooners and Agggies than Longhorns.

Ton's of Plano kids and other North Dallas kids go to school at OU. Ton's of OU Alumni in DFW too.

More so than a home and home?
Seems debatable.

Dallas is literally our 2nd home. Lol. Cotton bowl is perfect for us and Whorns.
Yes, Cotton bowl needs some major upgrades though and I think that’s already coming.

The site is equidistant. The stadium is split...but the setting isn't neutral. The game is in Texas at the Texas State fair.
The game being on Texas soil provides a slight psychological advantage for Texas in terms of being comfortable with the setting.
And you kind of see this with the fans. OU fans get in the Cotton Bowl early. Sort of an instinctual safety in numbers type of thing. The entire OU crowd is in there before the Texas fans even start to come inside stadium. And it has always been that way.
Yet whatever slight advantage Texas has going to a setting that is always referred to as the Texas-OU game and never the OU-Texas game like it is always referred to in Oklahoma... is mitigated by the exposure for recruiting and the fact that this is the greatest spectacle (on the whole) in college football.
Home and home would take all that away...
Although one of my friends likes to say it would be nice to have the game in Norman once so that the people in Oklahoma could provide the same wonderful hospitality the Texans in Dallas give OU fans every year.

When Jerry opened the new Cowboy stadium, he really wanted OU-Texas game to be moved there. Once he couldn’t get that he created the Southwest classic with Arkansas and A&M. Now that, that series is over, Jerry will make the the money too much for them to say no.
