In game adjustments

Since becoming a head coach, Kirby has really set himself apart from the pack by making incredibly deft halftime adjustments, especially on the defensive side of the ball. How many times have we seen games over his tenure start out sloppy only to completely turn the page in the second half?
Staff had at least two weeks, likely started studying this game earlier, and came out with an awful gameplan. The defense looked like absolute shite, wholly unprepared. Halftime comes and, voila, the defense comes out and controls the game, essentially stifling the same Bama offense that was running roughshod on them. 20 minutes of conversation and the ballgame turned on a dime.
Why aren't these adjustments occurring earlier in the game? If we see the defense getting burned in the 1Q, why aren't they huddled on the sideline making these adjustments for the 2Q? Why do we let half the game go by before actioning a backup plan? It's infuriating.
And furthermore, if you can change direction and completely revamp a plan within a 15 minute halftime window, how the hell did they not figure this out before the game?

Offensive adjustments should be much faster. My god it was infuriating. Simple shite.

I don't know enough about football to criticize, but I do know when a team scores 28 points doing exactly what we where told to expect. Milroe running option on corners and keeping the ball, why did we wait to 2nd half to adjust. Very proud of Dawgs to fight back, 8 more opportunities to get in the playoffs and just to watch Dawgs play. Been waiting for a year and one game doesn't change anything for me, GATA.

I mean, the other team also had 2 weeks to prepare and likely had this game circled all offseason. And it's not like they hired pruitt or butch jones, their guy is pretty good too. I love kirby and think he's the best in the country but it's not unreasonable to expect other temas to gameplan successfully for us if given the proper time and motivation. As you said though, I don't think we appreciate how truly masterful and elite elite elite our staff is at halftime adjustments.
Also, there's only so much game planning you cna do before letting the 18-20 year olds on the field go to work. There was one play where we had everything covered appropriately. Milroe broke away on the left side of the field, then ran completely horizontal to the right side of the field and turned up for a big game. shite like that you just shake your head.

I'm guessing bama did some things in the first half they hadn't done all year and it worked. Just like we did things this game we hadn't done thus far yet either.

Like what?
Telling Arian Smith to catch the ball? Telling Beck not to be confused by the Bama defense?
Jesus. Our defense couldn't tackle, couldn't set the edge, couldn't pressure Milroe and gave up 21 points in the 1st qtr and we're talking about 1st half "offensive adjustments"
Unbelievable.

Kirby said something about being overly aggressive after Milroe and the adjustment was to settle in and contain.
Milroe is amazing, but not superman. Other teams should see what the Dawgs did to stop him in the second half and give Bama fits. They play Texas, right? That should be good.
Hopefully, we get to the SECchampionship. I am not sure with what is left on our schedule, but if we get a rematch against Bama, I am not as defeated feeling as I was in the first half.
That goofy long TD was called at the right time before the dawgs settled down from the celebration of taking the lead. It was a must catch play for Bama. They were the desperate team at that point.

I think Kirby and Schuman were frustrated by last year’s SECCG where we played Milroe almost too conservatively and had better results coming after him in the second half. We kinda went too wild in the opposite direction. Credit to Milroe and their offense too. He’s a more consistent passer now and obviously they have more explosive playmakers this year.

I admire your passion, but the offense in the first quarter went 4 plays and punt, 3 plays interception and 3 and out. Carson Beck looked like a true freshman making his first start.
What the defense needed (well, the defense needed a lot of things at that point) was some time off the field and a chance to get their shite together.
There wasn't a whole lot of complementary football played in that first quarter.

And what exactly was the cause of those 3 and outs?
How dropped dropped passed and shitty QB and OL play

How does this help our defense with all those issues I pointed out?
I get complimentary FB but we weren't gonna go on lons sustained drives with our 1st half offensive game plan (attacking Bama's youth in the secondary) and having our 2 best run blocking OL out.

This
Giving up 21 points in the first quarter ain’t a good look, but just to ignore the fact that our offense laid an egg as well blows my mind.

Check out Brooks Austin latest film study. It's pretty interesting.
Plays are there to be made on every drive we had. Execution lacking, but sofl has a good point, if execution is poor every week, when is that a coach problem and not a player problem?
Gotta rep this shite. Now Arian should catch that pass and understand and pickup the check that Beck audibles into regardless of reps.

Arian has a ton of upside, but not super sure hands or route running. His speed is enough of a threat that they still want him in there.

The freeze frame showing the canyon that Arian Smith could have run through if he would've gotten the audible was demoralizing and deflating. Instead Beck throws an interception. Arian Smith seems like a good guy, but that has to be the most disastrous first quarter played by a Georgia receiver in program history.

My experience is that catching the ball is a moderately important skill set in a receiver.

This was the most infuriating part.
As for the WRs, I've never played a down of organized football in my life, but even I know that if the ball hits you in the hands, your job as a WR/TE is to complete the catch.

You forgot to add that a 5th yr qb shouldn’t get confused on coverage changes. Dude looked as lost as I’ve ever seen a qb.
