I hear the Red Cross is complaining that we are going to waste too much blood on the field with that arse whipping GA is about to give us. Im sure they wont be fired up or anything, they wouldnt run up the score on us would they.

Maybe they will agree to 10 minute quarters in the second half.

This season is starting to look like 2012.

It’ll be interesting to see how Freeze handles it. Chizik lost total control once the season was obviously a dud. Gus never lost the team, no matter how bad things got. Hell, even Harsin held it together in 2021.

Will these young guys buy into the vision of the future? Or bail once they start getting offers from better programs?

Without a reliable spark plug, that could be.

2012 and 2003 were both schematic coaching disasters

2012 the team quit, not so in 2003.

Which direction this goes is on Hugh Freeze’s shoulders. We desperately need to be able to salvage something of this season, keep whatever of the recruiting class together and not have mass transfer exodus going into next year. We need Freeze to not get himself fired because continuity at this point has a value all to its own after the Harsin debacle.

I have my doubts an Auburn coach can retain his job if he goes 0-8 in the SEC though, and that record is very much on the table.

Freeze losing 6 of his last 8, losing every game to any team with a pulse AND NMSU is insane. It’s inexcusable.

The man will get 4, if not 5, years to turn it around

The record may end up looking like 2012, but this team is playing at a level that the 2012 team never reached. Nearly 500 yards against the Oklahoma defense? Only allowed 291? When you look at the stat sheet, it looks like we won.

I think what we have is a culture of not knowing how to win, how to finish opponents. We play extremely well in spurts. But, when crunch time comes, we find new and increasingly painful and creative ways to lose.

This goes back much farther than Freeze. Or Harsin. This goes back to 2014 Gus- the fumble against A&M. Kicking all those short field goals at Bama. I know a lot of people look back on the Gus era with rose colored nostalgia glasses. I remember games of sub 200 yard offensive performances where we kept trying to run up the middle, of defensive coaches calling out our plays.

This offense can be explosive. This defense has played well enough to be 5-0. Our problem is mental. The staff has to change the mentality on how they’re teaching the players. The will to finish has to be installed in them somehow.

Yeah, that’s why that may be the only AU team I actively dislike, character wise. They played hard as hell and lost a close game to LSU, and just gave up afterward.

This current team has plenty of issues but at least they’re playing hard.

I’ll do a 1 year ban bet that if we go 0-8 in the SEC Hugh gets fired.

Was enough for the sole national championship winning coach in most of our lifetimes to get the axe. Will be plenty to get a coach that a good portion of the fanbase hated from day 1 to be let go.
