My thoughts on Norman, OK after this weekend’s game vs Tennessee

Beautiful campus.

Small stadium (by SEC standards) but they get loud.

Very passionate fan base.

The absolute nicest people ever. I have been to every SEC stadium, and the people were great.

Easy to tailgate.
We set up in a spot for about 10 hours and met a ton of amazing people.

I drank way too much beer.

The drone show at halftime was awesome.

The Toby Keith tribute was phenomenal. I got a little choked up.

(@AD_DannyWhite get rid of that liberal idiot Garth and switch to Toby. Trust me on this).

Vols fans are super rabid and awesome. It’s good to good again after +/-15 years of obscurity (until the last few).

I had great seats (13th row, 50 yard line, OU side) but the way the stadium lays out, there aren’t many bad seats.

OU’s schedule is brutal, but I will be cheering for them from here on out when they don’t play Tennessee.

OU: You belong in the SEC. Your fans are great. Your heritage is rich.

Stay awesome, even after you travel to the shite holes of Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, Athens, and Gainesville and realize that most SEC fan bases suck.

You stole that idea from aggy. They always have a visitor who gets lost in the stadium parking lot, can’t see the stadium, and has to be directed to the stadium by some good Samaritan aggys. It happens every game.

You will have a great time. I posted a bunch of Tenn nostalgia prior to game and hope to dig up some from SC as well. Beyond the games the SEC is so much better for fan experiences compared to what we had, other than the Cotton Bowl vs tx.

Should be a great game. It’s a must win for Okie to get bowl eligible.

Any new team that joins a new conference is going to have some hazing go their way. As a whole, the sooners have handled it a lot better than horns have. They don't seem to be begging for attention as much as some horns fan do. And if they can get a quarterback and play better on defense, they will be dangerous. Except for some brake downs in the secondary, their defense is very good

Norman is a nice town. My wife went to undergrad there do I've probably spent more time there than most Tennessee fans. Yall have alot of heismans and a relatively realistic fanbase. There are obviously some outliers but fair for the most part. It was really odd dealing with an oklhoma team that was stout defensively but lacked offense but it's 2024. Good game, yall have some dudes. If you can figure out the qb situation yall will be a problem.

I think Hawkins is the answer but we need some health to really fix things. A good qb can mask some of the problems and get players confidence. Confidence can bleed over to oline young starters too. So I hope we start Hawkins and then as year goes we can get injured players back. But its worrisome we had these O problems in first 3 games and kept doing same thing. Time will tell. After Aub this week we get 2 weeks off before tx

I think pulling Arnold is a knee jerk reaction. Bc as soon as Hawkins struggles, you switch to Arnold? Whoever you are kinda deciding in your head too early is your starter next year, that guy needs to have full control of the offense this year. It’s a baptism by fire year, and they just need to accumulate experience. The wins and losses will sort themselves out.

Oklahoma will fit in nicely with the SEC
Great game but Tennessee and Oklahoma seem to play each hard
Every team deals with injuries especially in the SEC
I think with your defense you will keep games close and be competitive.
Side mow that grass lol it’s too tall for SEC lol

A UT fan telling them other fan bases suck? Dude opposing fans always love it when the other team isn't a rival.

To be fair you're a rival.

I had a great time interacting with LSU fans in Athens and Atlanta (haven't managed to get to Baton Rouge yet). But I've heard others say they're terrible to deal with.

The reality is UGA and LSU don't really have any animosity toward each other.

I've also heard people say GT fans are great... but they're insufferable when they're playing UGA.

The closest thing I can think of when it comes to fan base that is nice to everyone is Vandy.
