Despite all the Chicken Little talk, the solution isn't too complicated

1. Stop turning the ball over 4-5 times a game
2. Stop the other team on 3rd down more consistently

A better QB or better QB coaching fixes #1. A DC that doesn't rush 3 on 3rd and longs fixes the other. Improve those by even 50% and we're undefeated right now. It's not as gloomy as it feels.

Bingo. We outgained Arkansas despite 5 or six turnovers. We. shot ourselves in the foot with poor decisions but were still very much in the game until about 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Once we clean that up we just may be able to go on a run.

Except we have two QBs capable of playing a down. One is a fifth year senior who can't get rid of the ball and turns the ball over. The other is a true freshman who can get rid of the ball, but doesn't see the field very well and turns the ball over.

Our defense plays out of position and has problems tackling.

These are fundamental issues unlikely to improve much and we have had a relatively easy schedule entirely at home to date. That's about to change. It's completely as gloomy.

This team isn’t good. There are no simple fixes, the work wasn’t done in the offseason, too late to fix for this year.

Hugh is going backwards in year 2, much more likely he’ll be cashing buyout checks than performance bonuses in the not too distant future.

After year 3 Hugh will have some of the worst losses in Auburn football history, almost certainly two losing seasons, and one of the most depressing stretches of results any Auburn fan has ever seen.

Hope year 3 is good…

Time and time again it shows that losing teams make losing plays. The culture has to change. The loser mentality has to go. When it really matters, we tend to frick it up. You can look at stats all day but this team is making losing plays constantly.

Like a phoenix rises from the ashes we be reborn.

During the Harsin years I created a thread showing how bad the roster was looking and I knew we were in for some angush then but nobody would listen. Yall would rather listen to Chex make fake promises in the offseason and join him in going bipolar once we suck in week one. Ray Charles could see we were headed down this path

Give the man 3 years. Yea we should be looking better against the Californias out there but our rosters have to get replenished. Then evaluate. We cannot afford to fire before our rosters get replenished. Freeze is a gift to Auburn and NIL will keep the players in Auburn.

So, two of the most important things concerning football?

The QB and defense?

A whole bunch of teams can say the same.

So let’s say we get to year 3, Hugh brings in top 12 recruiting classes, but the results on the field continue to stink.

Hugh gets fired, naturally, for presiding over the worst stretch of AU football since pre Shug Jordan.

Our roster is replenished though, like you wanted. Then the transfer portal opens…uh oh, new guy has to replenish the roster again. The world has changed. You cannot get a recruiting coach and count on the recruits sticking around for the next guy.

Reality is that Hugh’s performance on the field will lose him the better recruits from last year and this years upcoming class before he even gets to year 3. Coleman and Thompson will not be on Auburn’s roster next year.

NIL will make it easier to hold guys,.

Other teams have NIL funds too, Hugh’s available funds will diminish because of lack of results. Blue chip guys won’t stick around to have their NFL futures run into the ground if the money is similar.

I’ve been predicting a Coleman transfer since he signed, FWIW. I also assumed Auburn would be better this year than last year, so shows you the value of my predictions.

Donors that support Auburn need to support Hugh at least through his inital three year plan. Stopping support when we are trying to get the program off the ground running is going to put us in a deeper hole.

I dont understand why you predicted Coleman to transfer the day that he signed either. Explain that one to me.

Yall need to stop with all of this woe is me negativity.

Auburn should be called Excuse U.

That’s all the fans and coaches have.

There absolutely not a whole bunch of teams giving the ball away 17 times through 4 games. We were next to last in TO margin entering yesterday. I suspect we are either still there or now dead last after yesterday.

He's going to need to buy a QB. Should have this year.

That’s funny, I seem to remember Cam letting two balls go through his hands for interceptions in his last two games.

If he’s unhappy and transfers that would speak more to a lack of awareness and accountability.

I get the feeling some of you thought this was a 10 win type team.

Some team we’re not supposed to beat is going to get caught with their pants down the day AU decides to not turn the ball over a historic number of times.

Definitely not Colorado. They only have 4 turnovers on the year.
