What are our implications for the Miss State Meltdown?

It's the old Train Wreck joke. I don't really care. But I still stand and watch.
This season in Starkville is a catastrophe that's basically unparalleled in modern SEC history. They could easily go 2-10, 0-8. And there's no real hope of a recovery in sight.
Lebby is a good coach. They won't (or at least shouldn't) get rid of him. He'll get a minimum of 3 years. So what options do they have?
And what are the implications for us?
Do we really battle them for in state recruits anymore?
Will this affect their enrollment, financial giving, etc?
Could this bleed over into baseball or other sports?
Other than the satisfaction of seeing them suck, are there any other silver linings here?

They’ve been crowing about some sort of $8 million donation to NIL so they have that in their holster. And let’s face it, money talks. It’s what landed some of our best players currently.

Money and early playing time is an easy sell to kids. As long as they have NIL money Lebby will be able to recruit.

I'm thinking it was probably Dak that made that donation.

$8 million sounds good and is nice to have but it’s not going to move the needle very much. I thought it was a donation given to the AD and not the collective. It’s earmarked for football for when collective bargaining inevitably becomes a thing.
What makes us so successful is that we have 5000 members of our collective giving on a regular basis. State doesn’t have that and neither does Arkansas. If they want to actually succeed and make some noticeable moves, they have got to get NIL in order

It wasn't directly to NIL. It was to their athletic department. Had it been given to NIL, there would be no tax deduction.

Oh ok. There was a lot of chatter about how much it would help football nonetheless. Also chatter about not spending it until their current dumpster fire has somewhat burned itself out.

It's also not a 1 time payment. It's coming in over time. It's a big deal, for sure, but it's not like they can go out and spend $8 million tomorrow.

They’re grasping at straws for something positive at the moment anything to kill all the super negative momentum of the program cratering out

Till people realize about the NIL collective and giving into them some programs are never going to change.

The implications for us IMO, is that they will put more time in trying to destroy Ole Miss than they will trying to save State. Will be harder to do now that you can actually pay players but maybe we should put some guards up in the Grove.
We saw how crazy they got after Ole Miss kept them out of the playoffs Dak’s senior year. They went full nuclear option and destroyed both of our programs. Fortunately, we ended up stronger for it.
