Remember when about 30+ percent of this board were positive Arch Manning was no good?

All the experts on here had examined his film from tiny Isidore Newman, and they just knew he was OvErRAteD

Never mind that both his uncles also played at Isidore Newman.

I remember

They were all jealous he didn't go play at their schools, obviously. They were also all saying Arch was going to transfer.

I think very few fans said he was “no good.”

But I agree that several people thought he was over-rated on name alone.

He played UTSA today, but from the game, he seems like the real deal and the next great manning.

Which i hate because he’s in conference, but unlike the poster above stated, I don’t dislike the kid because he didn’t go to LSU. He’s a manning. He was never coming to LSU.

I’ve got a friend whose son played with him at Newman and he says he’s a great kid.

I don’t dislike this random teenager I’ve never met at all. But I hope everytime he plays LSU he plays his worst game ever.

I think Arch sees the entire field progression better than Ewers does

I wouldn’t say “no good”. I would say possibly overrated. He came out as the best QB in the nation. Now he is in his second year out of high school and I’m still not sure he is the best in the nation. He may be.

One thing is for sure is he was raised right. I think his Dad and Grandad went to Ole Miss

Yes they did, and Grandpa and Cooper were better running athletes than Peyton and Eli, easily, and that I think showed on Arch's long touchdown run.

Wow dude comes in and lights up a subpar team and now everyone on the bandwagon . Sounds a lot like UF's freshman QB that came in and lit up samford. Lets see how he does against a few good teams first.

when you say "lights up" do you mean he slices through his progressions with precision? Because he does.

Is Ewers unproven in your eyes as well because of his command of only 21 points?

I think this was more from certain schools in the conference with Manning connections who thought he was going to their school but he didn’t.

Well you can eliminate UT from that list as we knew right away we weren’t in on Arch. In fact Peyton and Arch did us one helluva favor because while everyone else was fighting for Arch we were focused on Nico. I don’t think we could’ve pulled Nico at that time had Arch not run interference.

It worked out great for us.

I wish Arch nothing but the best except if for some reason it happens that our teams meet. Arch seems like a good kid. Peyton has always been such a great ambassador for UT-TENNESSEE. A good family with a lot of class. Arch wanted to leave his legacy at a different school other than his uncles & I can't blame him for that. You may now have a qb controversy now that they see how good Arch is. Always a nice problem to have 2 good qbs.

I remember saying he's not as good as N1cO and that was why we took N1cO instead of him. No jealousy involved. We could have had him had we wanted him.

I think he's gonna be pretty good.

But the really good news is now he will split the locker room at Texas. Good times ahead for the Downhorns!

On the Vol Radio Network last night Pat Ryan were saying Arch was almost as good of a runner as Grandpa Archie. That is a high compliment.

Archie was the best runner of any of the Mannings. He told the story of Peyton and Eli watching his old films. Peyton made the statement, "Gee, Dad..you were pretty fast." (he was)
