Teague's Take 2024

Here we are. Saban has retired. The season is nigh, and everyone (noone) is anxiously awaiting my thoughts on what will happen.
Firstly, you can't go anywhere but down when the greatest of all time retires. But, that's from an overall, consistency standpoint. So far, I think Deboer was the best hire we could have made. And, good news, nobody else has Saban either. I think we're in good hands.
I don't think anyone questions that the offense will be good. Despite all the fan bois, Milroe was an issue last year. I didn't think it was all his fault though. BoB squandered Bryce Young, so you can only imagine the coaching that Milroe got. Hopefully, the new staff can tutor him on the 3 years of growth he missed. I haven't been a huge fan of Milroe's game, but I'm optimistic that might change this year. I think he has the potential to be great.
The defense... I don't know. I want to believe that Wommack is going to let the talent go make plays. It's difficult to say that anyone is going to get more from a defense than Saban. But, there were definitely times when I felt our superior talent struggled too much against lesser competition due to the complexity of the scheme. I'm curious to see how Wommack's defense looks with Bama talent.
Lastly, there's a lot of high expectations from Bama fans. One thing all of us forget, myself included, is that it is year ONE for the whole team. Even with the talent AND the (hopefully) good coaching, it's probably going to take a while to gel. We're likely to take some lumps. There's no way to get multiple years of experience in a system in a few months. Can they go undefeated? Maybe. Can they lose multiple games? Also yes.
I'm excited to see what happens. There's plenty of reason for optimism.

Yeah I love hearing LSU fans shite on Deboer yet he's undefeated against the first three coaches they'll target (Riley, Lanning and Sark) after they fire Kelly in 2026.... and Deboer beat them with vastly inferior talent.
We had a great run with Saban and Deboer will never be Saban. Yet I still expect him to have success here. But I'm not going to scream at the sky if he doesn't win 11 games every season. Only one other coach has been able to replicate Saban's success and he's in Athens right now. But it took him six years to truly start dominating and even then, he couldn't beat Saban (unless two of his most explosive offensive weapons doesn't play in a rematch).

after they fire Kelly in 2026
Kelly drastically upgraded his assistant coaches and their recruiting has taken off, I wouldn’t count on him being gone anytime soon.

Sark
If half the rumors out of Austin are true (and I very much hope they aren’t),
he’s more likely to be fired by 2026 than Kelly.

Riley
Anyone dumb enough to hire him as anything other than an OC is getting what they deserve. I legitimately think they’ll lose 4-5 games this year.
LSU - L
ND - L
UM - L
PSU - L
Bowl or UW

My Predictions for 2024...
- We will avg 38.5 points per game.
- We will be in a number of shoot-outs.
- Due to scoring fast, our defense will give up yardage.
- Fans going to rage over giving up yardage.
- Playoff Team

Bama will be fine…DeBoer did a lot with much less talent everywhere he’s been. I’d be more worried about how long he stays at Bama before wanting the challenge of the NFL.

BAMA avgs 41 ppg
Defense gives up avg 27 ppg
Close shootouts with:
UGA
Tenner
Mizzou
LSU &

BAMA wins all the games they should and 4/5 shootouts listed above.

SECCG vs UGA (whoever wins the regular season game loses the Champ game rematch).
Either way, BAMA is in the playoff.
