Watching several old classic sec games on YouTube and the stadiums and atmospheres seem so much louder than they are now and played a bigger part in the games. Only thing I can figure is the circus offenses of today and tv having every game available so it’s not as much of a delicacy to be there. Idk. Drink

Probably the way sound is captured I would think

The broadcast has a huge effect on how loud the game sounds. It'd so obvious when they mix it up or down based on the game and narrative.
A&M doesn't have the loudest peak noise, but kyle field is consistently loud and sounds about the same every game and depending on the broadcast they will background it completely out or make it seem like the booths windows are rattling.

There’s definitely an atmospheric change. There’s way more music and dancing and fun video clips on the big board. Stadiums are a lot more catered to entertaining recruits and family fun. Not near as menacing and intense. It’s a whole different vibe

Speaking as an LSU alum that’s been going to games for 24 years but doesn’t make it as often due to moving off-Death Valley is still louder than anyone at its best, but the corporate influence has made it noticeably quieter.
I would imagine that’s the case for every sec school. LSU has priced out a ton of diehards for companies that use the tickets for entertainment.
Tiger Stadium still gets loud as frick, but really only when a major opponent is in town. Even then it’s not as consistently loud as it was back in the day.

To add-in the playoff era I wish colleges would structure schedules with less neutral site games.
It’s diminished the point of even buying season tickets when you’ve taken away a marquee home game every other season. Now with the playoff structure fans have even more challenges traveling, and with cfb players becoming somehow even more annoying with NIL its just easy to see interest dwindling paying out the arse to see a game in person.
I’ve been to three national titles, a few sec titles, every major sec road venue (including Texas), and two decades of every major LsU home game…I am semi retired as a die hard in my early 30s

In Tuscaloosa, we used to get yelled at by old boomers for being too loud/obnoxious. Couldn't stand those fricks.

I blame the 4 minute time outs after every play

There are gigantic video boards now to distract everyone with Taco Bell commercials during timeouts.
And half the stadium are probably looking at their phone most of the game.

Those FCS tickets you've been buying can throw you off.

That’s when the bands played and there were cheers during the breaks. Now it’s loud rap shite music and commercials at every break.
