Largest in-state talent pool in the USA. Premier program in the state. Top tier budget.

One national championship in the last 50+ years.

What gives?

No. They should dominate and they haven’t. They were even in a favorable conference and couldn’t do it.

Folks seem to not get this. Money IS the problem. Here we go.
Yes, lots of talent and money BUT when oil billionaire Tex from Beaumont
comes in to the athletic dept to drop off his 5 mill dollar check for this season he's not tuning around and walking out and saying have a great season,.
He's gonna sit down, take off his cowboy hat, ask for a glass of bourbon and want to see the depth chart and the offensive plays and then he will let you know what plays you need to be running and what players need to be playing. If the coach gives him any gruff the coach will be getting a call from the University President. If you need any evidence look at how shitty the Cowboys are with Jerry Jones ego calling the shots when the Cowboys are the richest franchise in pro sports. If it's that bad in the pro's you can only imagine how little control the college coach has.

Nope. Can’t recruit in the Big XII. NOW we’re in a favorable conference.

Have they? If we're talking about national titles, Texas will forever remain the Big 12's most recent title winner.

OU had Bob Stoops and Lincoln Riley (who had Stoops' players and culture) while Texas had Charlie Strong and Tom Herman.

The answer is that Texas hasn't hired great coaches and on top of it never got lucky despite those hires like e.g. LSU with frickin' Miles and Orgeron

Your one good year in 10 years doesn’t trump OU’s 10 good years in a row.

I never said anything to the contrary. Someone had to win the Big 12. Texas was down for a decade, so of course it was going to be OU. I'm happy to admit they were the tallest midget 2010-2020

Or our 10 good years before theirs?

It’s all jacking off. Live in the now. We finished #3. Blow me.

Some truth to this. Ohio State has a huge slime budget, reels in top in state and even far out of state talent. They should be a top team every year on paper but somehow manage to exit first round of the playoffs.

The donor will have a say in which players he wants the money going to. Regarding being the coach on what plays should be run, not a chance. Donors just want a winning program. You may be right with a few know it all donors but the majority are smart and know their limitations. Jerry Jones and the young Davis with the cereal bowl serial killer haircut are buffoons but they own the team.

All coaches have to manage donor egos. No one can manage a Texans ego. They can’t handle it themselves, they ain’t having none of anyone else doing it. Only in Texas can a small town coffee shop sale $100k guns. That actually exists. There are more exotic animals in private ownership in Texas than anywhere on the planet….they own them to shoot them. Texans with money ain’t normal rich people….aint nobody managing those people’s egos. ATM is in the same boat.

Nope, wrong yet again

The real problem has been our big money guys being reluctant to risk their reputations during the bag game days, but thanks to the Supreme court fixing something that only a few were truly asking for, (mostly current/ ex players butthurt from not being able to profit) those days are over and us along with a small handful of others are poised to truly shine.
