What's Atlanta going to do with all those tall buildings when it becomes Chicago/Detroit?

I'm jaded, so take this for what it is worth:

Atlanta has one of the highest percentages of unoccupied office buildings in the US, and WFH that became prevalent during 2020 has been a large part of that. There were already former office buildings in Midtown that were being converted into residential buildings before COVID, so I'd imagine that would be the plan.

Any buildings that cannot be converted will be torn down and replaced with some kind of mixed use commercial units on the bottom and residential units above it.

The seemingly constant building in Atlanta since the late 90s isn't going to end as long as the city is growing. The only building safe in Atlanta is the Capitol.

Atlanta is indeed the Detroit of the South. So glad we moved away from there.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Atlanta but this statement is absurd.

I'm fine as long as it doesn't become New Orleans, Shreveport or Baton Rough

Yet somehow, commuter traffic hasn't gotten any better. It's weird. All these people working from home (including myself) and the rare instance I have to go into ATL during rush hour, it's just as bad as it ever was.

I definitely would not want to live in Atlanta. But it is handy to go to good restaurants, concerts, the airport, World of Coca-Cola, CFBHOF, Aquarium etc.

For a few months in 2020 it was great.

My company requires a certain amount of time in the office, although anything I do that isn't required to be in a secured area can be done from home. When I am working on non-DOD projects there is nothing I can do in the office that I can't do thru my VPN (minus stocking up on K-cups from the break room).

A quick job search comparison would suggest Atlanta >>>> Detroit.

Atlanta is a shithole, I agree. I wish we could separate the rest of the state.

Atlanta definitely has good food but it's just not an enjoyable place to live anymore. Too many undesirables and now the state has turned blue.
