Cam was relatively unknown except to Mullen. AU didn't even know about him. The AU coaches were recruiting another kid at that Junior College and happened to see Cam on the field. Gus called Chizik and said "Uh, we need this dude named Cam."

I am pretty sure he was well known after the Florida situation. The stolen laptop and other things. He wasn't an under the radar prospect that you guys stumbled upon. They gave him $180k out of the gate...geez...

Cam thankfully spells out why he doesn't attend the heisman events because I had wondered.

After his history of crime at UF, Cam needed to change. Auburn, known historically as a reform school, took a petty thief and converted him to a cross-dresser.

If I recall correctly Gettleman made him walk a straight line and wear shorter hair.
He also got benched for not wearing a tie while traveling.
