Was the single most consequential event to happen to the league in decades. Saban tried to get a rule change to deal with it. Fortunately he was unsuccessful. The entire conference had to adapt. Thanks to Missouri, this league is now fun and offensive heavy.

Thank you, Missouri!

Kentucky ran the air raid in 2007....

Andre Woodson still gives me nightmares. What a crazy season that was for college football.

I wish this was true. Spurrier fricked us for a decade with a variant of the spread

Nobody ran it like Missouri. Nobody had trouble with it like they did with Missouri. Again, you are welcome.

Now tell 'em who Mizzou, and the rest of the BIG XII, copied their spread offenses from.

Funny when your team has been running the Spread since 1999.

2014 — The 10-second rule Saban wanted to slow the game down, to keep offenses from running such fast paced hurry up offenses that didn’t allow his killer defenses time to read and react. Saban wanted a 10 second rule to be implemented between plays to give his defenses time to substitute into appropriate packages as well as rest and read to play and react to it. The result – The NCAA said no, so Saban hired Lane Kiffin to teach his team to run a hurry up offense and give his defense a chance to see it in practice every day and learn to conquer it. As a result, he won championships faster than ever.

check out gator highlights when the ole ball coach was there. He dominated the SEC wth that offense and a damn strong defense too. mizzou got nothing on spurrier.

You must have won lots of championships then.

I recall Gus Malzahn starting that shite in earnest under Chizik, with it culminating to an NC in 2010 when they got the right QB to run it.

He didn’t run it as much in 2007, even though that offense had some great down the field ability.

We ran it in 1997 when Hal Mumme came in and Mike Leach was our OC (predating his time at Oklahoma). Tim Couch set a shite ton of NCAA and SEC passing records under it.

OP is a moron.

Pretty sure y'all joined the SEC in 2012....and since then...

2012 - 42-10
2014 - 42-13
2018 - 39-10
2020 - 39-19

Maybe this year will be different.

Alabama bringing in Kiffin and LSU firing Les Miles is what ushered in modern SEC offenses.

Florida and Auburn were a little ahead of the curve.

Kentucky way ahead but then took steps back

Five divisional titles between 2007 and 2014. Never did get over the hump, but certainly changed the league.
