As long as wheels stay on you should be thrilled.

Delta added a bunch of routes to accommodate college football games this year, and has multiple charter contracts with various SEC schools. It’s also based in Atlanta, in the heart of the SEC - the only major airline headquartered here.

Why wouldn’t it be?

ETA: Southwest is a Texas based airline. I’m already tired of Texas fricking up the conference, and they haven’t even played a game here yet.

I guess I'm one of the few that likes flying Southwest. Since I don't fly much anymore, it is nice that you don't need status (or pay a shitload more) to book a decent seat, but rather you just need to check in early.

When I flew all the time for work, Delta and United were great because I could choose my seat and often get upgraded. Those days are long gone, so I appreciate Southwest.

ETA: Why does anyone care that Southwest is sponsoring the SEC? Y'all know you can still fly other airlines, right?

1. Southwest is a shite heap right now, with their CEO facing immense pressure to step down, and their multitude of bad press clippings recently. SWA doubled the CEO’s salary on the heels of one of the worst meltdowns in modern aviation history.

2. They’re a budget airline.

3. They’re headquartered in Texas.

I don’t like any of those things when they are being called “The Official Airline of the SEC.”

As are all US based airlines these days. They could have chosen American, United...any of them. Same shite, different name.

I love when people complain about stupid stuff like this when all the SEC likely did was agree to terms with whatever airline offered them the most money

Right. We should just be glad it's not Etihad.

You've had no problem with SONIC for the last two decades which is based in OKC.

Southwest used to be pretty good back in the 90's, but since 9/11 all domestic airlines have gone to shite.

I hear Pan Am is making a comeback, but it sounds like they're going mostly international and trying to compete with the expensive luxury airlines. Fact is with DEI and "inclusive hiring" and all that...no American bases airline will truly be able to compete with the middle eastern and Asian heavy hitters.

I haven't flown since the 90s, but I flew Southwest back then for private flights and the others for military flights and it all seemed the same to me.

If you think 'Southwest is terrible', be thankful it is not "Spirit"!

Delta based in ATL, Southwest is like Phoenix I think. Southwest is great if you’re going to like Vegas/Phoenix/Denver, etc.
