It's sad. I'm a lifelong Hog fan and the John L Smith, Bert, Chaggy, and Pittman years have driven me to the point that I just don't care now.

I honestly hope they turn it around, but my fall Saturday's are wide open. They will have to win me back.

In the meantime, I'm just quietly amd patiently building up unrealistic expectations for Cal and the basketball program.

Looking back fans ran off Houston Nutt because he would only win 7-9 games each year. We've fallen to the point where hope for 5 wins. Now the program is in a position where top players don't want to come to a losing team and the team can't get better without top players.

We brought Nutt back after consecutive 5-6 and 4-7 seasons too though. I’d argue that 9-4, 7-6 and 4-8 isn’t even as bad as that.

There just isn’t as much leeway these days because it’s harder to get the momentum back. McFadden committed after we had mediocre seasons but now kids aren’t as willing to go to programs unless they’re already winning.

Agreed. I am not watching or giving any money to this shitshow until we have a season where we go undefeated against the Mississippi schools, Texas A&M, and Missouri.

this is really all I ask. Sure, we may not ever be as good as Georgia, bama, lsu etc. but damn we can beat the Mississippi schools and Missouri. Whatever they achieve as a program I know we’re capable of.

Nutt should have been fired after the 2005 season. He wasted that 2003 team.

I’m starting to buy the hype. I think healthy hasz with an OC that actually wants to be here could be special. We just need receivers and green to be serviceable and we could get to 6/7 wins

If Arkansas kept Nutt, he would had a losing season in 2008 and was losing recruits like Tyler Wilson and Joe Adams. I think if Nutt had a few more 10 wins then he would last longer but when you stay at any place for 10 plus years then expectations get higher and you got to produce.

Nutt was fired not because he would only win 7-9 games a year. He was fired at close to 10 years at Arkansas and had all that talent with a generational RB, still couldn't win the SEC when it was weak.

Then he goes to Ole Miss and inherits a loaded team, still couldn't do anything except run Ole Miss into the ground.

this makes my eyes rain. I love basketball and baseball don’t get me wrong but nothing is better than when your school is halfway decent at football.

Petrino had arguably the best offensive talent overall of any Arkansas team and what champions did he win? Did he waste that talent? Should he have been fired? If he had hung around for a few more years you would have wanted him gone too.

well he happened to win 11 games the year the only teams he lost to played each other for the national championship and football is a team sport so having the best offense ever doesn’t matter if the defense isn’t equivalent. Also if you give Petrino the 2014 2015 2016 teams they probably have at least 2 more bcs bowl appearances

So he didn’t win any championships huh? But he’s got excuses which other coaches don’t get. Ok.

yes he does actually the biggest lie in football is you are what your record says you are. Not all 10 win seasons should be weighed equally. Of course that requires more than a base understanding of the game. But also, I’m not asking for championships, I’m asking for 8,9 win seasons and maybe once or twice a decade double digit wins. I’m not saying we will ever be Bama but damn is it too much to ask for us to be as good as ole miss, mizzou or Iowa? shite man since Bobby left we’ve lost to Rutgers twice, Texas tech, tcu, ULM, north Texas. San Jose state, western Kentucky, liberty, byu and the list goes on and on. That’s not because we can’t compete in the sec that’s because we have shite coaches. Hell just imagine if we were still in the south west conference. Do you see us having a winning record vs Baylor, tcu, Texas tech, Houston or smu the last 10 years? I sure fricking don’t. So stop with the woe is me Arkansas just always fricking sucks bullshite because that’s not the frickibg issue. We may not ever win a natty but we can sure as frick not lose to inferior teams and Bobby proved that.

When did I say that? I initially wasn’t even addressing you. You are the one who chimed in. I was talking about the criticism of Nutt.

Woe is me my arse…

this is what you said at first. Sounds to me like your saying people would’ve ran Bobby off eventually for not winning championships which is complete horse shite. Even if he was like van horn and kept getting 9,10,11 win seasons but couldn’t get us over the hump, some fans would gripe but there’s no way in hell Arkansas fires a coach that consistent. We’ve seen it play out in other sports.
