Did I miss the thread on this?

If no, despite the fact that Nick really accomplished a lot (just by keeping his players out of the pokey) and really kicked arse and took names...

When I first read the story, all I could think was "Hmmm, guess integrity is not a pre-requisite for greatness in college coaching."

Ok, Saban-lovers, let me have it.

I guess winning your own conference isn't either.

So far bama has won the equivalent of what Tennessee won last year going into the bowl game.

The award was well deserved. Bama was a very well coached team this year.

A team predicted to go 7-5 or 8-4 and finish 3rd in the West goes 12-1 and wins the West. I would say he deserved the award.

How is this on the wrong board?

Saban did a helluva job and deserves this honor.

I second that motion. St. Nick deserves a lot of credit for doing something nobody has been able to do in a lot of years - he breathed life into Alabama and made them into a winning machine. At least for this season. And he did the same thing at LSU. The guy knows how to coach, recruit, and motivate. Congrats, Coach Saban!

I will give Saban props for what he accomplished this year. He took a less-than-mediocre Bama team from last year and turned them into National Championship material (but not quite National Champs ) in a matter of months.

But seriously, was the value of Saban as a coach really ever up for debate? Everybody (including LSU fans) knows he's a good coach.

Hmmm, did he not have integrity when he left Mich St and took a step up in his career for LSU? Have you worked at the same job your entire life? (That question doesn't count if you are 19 and have worked at McDonald's your whole life. Moving from fries to the grille is not the same thing)

Stupid, stupid post. You belong in the "Fail Room"

None of Nick Saban's actions in the last five years have displayed any lack of integrity.

This is not good news to all those LSU fans that still feel "Left at the Alter" by Saban. Combine that with Bama's success this year with only 9 scholarship seniors on the roster and add the failed Les Miles Mallveto Co-DC experiment and it turns into a "Hell on Earth" scenario for all those who hoped Nick would fall flat on his face. And, it's more Fuel to the Fire for LSU realists that saw it coming and can say to the delusional cheerleader types, "We told you so." .....

nope its not. winning is what matters the most and that is the way it should be. college coaches aren't here to please people and be nice guys a good coach should be at the school to win, not make other fans think he has integrity or some shite.

Lemme guess, you are one of the latter. He is 19-7 at Alabama right now. Will what happened last year (7-6) not happen ever again? You guys try to write the book on everyone too early. Just the same as the guys who said he would be, or was a total disaster last year, the people hailing the next Bear Bryant/Knute Rockne in the form of Nick Saban are just as guilty of trying to write the book on a coach before his career plays out. As of now the man hasn't won any championship of any meaning when he wasn't coaching LSU. Does he deserve COY, hell yeah. Even if the SEC was far below it's own standard this year (IMO), it is well deserved. I could go through a huge list of coaches who have done less and won this award. Paul Johnson may deserve it a little more, IMO. Congrats, little man.

PS. My Bad, Nick won a co-championship at Toledo, and the SEC West this year, obviously.

I wonder about how when you want to tell people "you told them so", do you also throw in how you knew UT, Auburn, LSU, UGa, and Clemson would not nearly live up to the expectations of previous seasons and this off season?
