So......Texas AD Conte thinks the UTx-OU rivalry exceeds anything in the SEC, eh?

Better than Alabama-Auburn? Better than Georgia-Florida?

As the news articles/video have shown that he's throwing "shade" on the SEC..............

...........#1: do you all think he's just trying to get all the rest of us riled up on purpose? ........or........

...........#2: is he afraid and/or is not confident enough in Texas' traditions in matching up with the rest of the tradition-rich SEC?
........or.........

...........#3: does he really believe this?

What do YOU think of the OU-Texas rivalry? Ever been to the game?

Personally, OU-Texas is right up there with both of them with an edge going to the Iron Bowl (that game is downright mean!).

It certainly exceeds UGA-Florida

It’s way behind the iron bowl

It’s their main rival. Why wouldn’t he say that?

Sark has said otherwise.. but he is biased..

I think they are different games.. and really shouldn't be compared., a better comparison for the Iron Bowl would be Texas and Texas A&M.

Need to keep the Texas and Oklahoma trash out of the SEC.

It's just his personality; he's the bravado type.

I wouldn't have come in so strong, but that's me.

There are obviously a lot of great rivalries in the conference.

To be honest, I'd put it slightly ahead of the UGA-UF Cocktail Party.

Question: with the doing-away of the divisions, does anybody think that by placing both the OU-Texas AND UGA-UF games toward the end of the season -- like Bama-Auburn -- make things more lively and exciting for the conference?

Just a thought.

Yes, I have been many times.. and there is simply nothing that I have seen that is even close to it.. I am most likely going to GA-FL this year, so I will at least have something to compare it too..

But even then, I'm going to be biased to Texas OU because of my emotional attachment to the game.

For example, I could rate the following games without bias..

1) The Iron Bowl
2) The Egg Bowl
3) WLOCP

So perhaps a group of 10 or more sports fans with no attachment to any of the schools could make a list.. outside of that, it's a hard comparison..

This game can't move unless they move the State Fair.. which they aren't going to do.. It will be in the 1st two weeks of October..

By the way, this years game will kick at 2:30 pm CST on ABC or ESPN..

I remember a bunch of idiots on here saying Texas-OU wouldn't be the 3:30 game.

Back in the day, Oklahoma's most important games were played against Nebraska.

The self-importance of the Texas mindset is noted.

I don't pretend to be an expert on the Texas OU rivalry, but if this message board is any indication I sense very little animosity between the two fan bases. Alabama and Auburn fans on the other hand want to kill each other.

Every time there's been a 2:30 kick in the last 20 years, the Longhorns have lost that game

Texas OU has always been important to both.. but imo it really elevated when both were in the same division of the same conference.

The game was OOC until 1996.. (except a few early on around 1915)
