It would help if you listed the 13 titles so we knew which ones to laugh at.

You're going to have to find another conference to compete in under water hockey.

Women's gymnastics. We don't have men in leotards dancing around.
Well A&M might, but that's just their campus culture.

Going to go out on a limb here, but I don't think they'll win any Big12 titles next year.

I don't know enough about Texas to know what those 13 sports are.
I'm guessing they won both mens and womens swimming and diving in the Big 12 as they're the top team in both from the big 12 in the polls.
The problem is there are no other Big 12 schools in the top 25 for men's or women's swimming, while the SEC has 7 men's teams and 7 womens teams in the top 25.
It's a more competitive landscape. Texas could still win either of them, but they'll have to fight for it now.
I don't know what other sports Texas is good at. Something like womens volleyball might be the same amount of challenge. I'm not aware of any dominant SEC schools there. But Baseball? Football? Womens gymnastics? Track and field? Tennis? Golf? There are a lot of good SEC teams in all those sports.

Texas will dominate the olympic sports in the SEC because it will be the defacto school for west coast kids who want to play against the best without having to travel to New Jersey to play Rutgers on a Wednesday.

quote:Laughing at Texas winning a conference title in football in 2023 (and kicking the SEC champion's arse on their own home field) while Arkansas hasn't won a football conference title in 35 years and likely never will again is certainly a choice

Texas only competes in 19 sports? To be the flagship school of the republic of Texas, seems kinda low

Football - will be harder (4 other big 12 teams in the top 25 last year vs 6 SEC teams, 5 of which are ranked ahead of the next highest ranked Big 12 team)
Women's Soccer - will be harder (1 other Big 12 team in the top 25 vs 5 in the SEC)
Volleyball - About the same difficulty. (3 other big 12 vs 3 SEC in the top 25)
Womens basketball - Harder (Actually more top 25's in the Big 12.. 4 to 2... but those two are SC and LSU which makes actually winning the conference much tougher)
Mens swimming - Much harder (8 vs 0 in favor of the SEC)
Womens swimming - Much harder (8 vs 0 in favor of the SEC)
Mens tennis - Much harder (8 vs 1 in favor of the SEC)
Mens golf - Much harder (9 vs 2 in favor of the SEC)
Womens golf - Much harder (8 vs 0 in favor of the SEC)
Softball - Same to slightly harder.. (9 vs 2 in favor of the SEC, but OU and Okie State are VERY good)
The SEC and Big 12 numbers count OU as a Big 12 team even though they'll be in the SEC next season.
Texas is a good team in a lot of sports. But the SEC has more good teams in nearly every sport than the Big 12 does. That makes winning conference titles much harder.
