City of Shreveport to shut off water to 3 apartment complexes next week

quote:

The City of Shreveport will cut off water service to three apartment complexes because of unpaid bills.

quote:

The action is being taken because of increasing water and sewerage balances and the landlords' lack of communication and "willingness to meet their responsibilities."

quote:

The water will be disconnected on Tuesday at the Jolie Apartments at 1017 Quail Creek, the Pines Apartments at 8040 Line Avenue and Villa Norte apartments at 1620 Fullerton. Other utilities may be disconnected on the same day for the same reasons.

All 3 properties are owned by the same dude out of NYC.

Apparently the property manager at Quail Creek put a sign on the door that they were closed and the entire staff left the property. They said they have a serious issue with squatters and residents refusing to pay rent. Some owed more than $16K in back rent.

Would you be surprised if I told you all 3 are Section 8 housing?

This was announced yesterday. There was a shooting at Quail Creek last night. Crime was already bad there. This is going to make it the Wild West.

You can go a while with no electricity, eat packaged foods for weeks, but no running water and everything goes to shite in a day or two.

We need an OT resident with a drone to catch footage of the action.

We could make it into a documentary and have David Attenborough narrate the happenings and ways of the section 8 residents as crisis hits.

We used to go gar gigging in the Oxbow behind this place back in the late 90s. There are some MONSTER fish in that lake.

Oh well. I have an idea. How about Louisiana politicians put together another Ukraine funding bill. I’m sure speaker Johnson can get enough demorats and Rinos to pass it. We know there is a filibuster proof majority in the senate to pass it too. They can even include funds for Israel to provide cover for the gope. Biden will sign it, then withhold funding to Israel because he’s a pos, racist, antisemitic feral dog of a human.

Screw Shreveport.

I lived in the Quail Creek apartments around 2008ish and they were decent apartments.

I'm not sure when they changed hands, but they went down fast.

Well, the Tennant will just take the insurance claim, because those Fulkerson are about to trash those places.

Why pay rent if owner sits in NY and doesn't take action. Now I definitely wouldn't pay because my rent doesn't keep the eater on.

I suspect Shreveport will make national headlines for "shutting off water to low-income minorities" and the world will keep turning.

Nobody will care about the true reasons for this happening (nobody paying their bills at multiple levels). It will be strictly turned into a race/class thing and the water will be turned back on due to outside pressures.

I had to live in Shreveport for a time and worked out in a gym on Quail Creek. It's amazing how shitty that city has become.

This is probably the first step towards action items being taken by the city towards shutting them down. So eventually new management or possibly even being demolished or redeveloped.

There is a similar complex in Tigerland in Baton Rouge that was shut down and will hopefully be redeveloped. But just it being empty has been a huge help. If that fate met about 3 other similar, smaller complexes in that area....it will be a huge net positive.
