As of 830 my folks in Shreve island still had power. Y'all be safe up there.

I just went fishing in Lake Charles. 39 and on/off rain.

45 and raining in Lake Charles.
Calcasieu Parish schools are out Monday. Moose out front told me.

Morning. Looks like this shifted again and now Lake Charles shows to be below freezing tonight!

Edit: just realized I was looking at Shreveport weather. Need coffee

There are already enough evil's in this world.

This place will be crying on social media to SUPPORT LOCAL when they announce they are shuttering the doors.

Hard Pass
That’s a really thoughtful impulse — you clearly appreciate the help you got, and a small gift to show that is a great idea. Since they wouldn’t accept cash, something practical, personal, and not too big works really well. Here are some good options that feel sincere without being over the top:

?? Solid, Appreciative Gift Ideas

Food & Drink

A nice box of quality cookies, brownies, or pastries

A gourmet snack basket (nuts, jerky, cheeses)

A good bottle of coffee beans or ground coffee

A six-pack of craft beer (if you think they drink)

Tools / Handy Items

A good multi-tool (Leatherman-style)

A high-quality LED flashlight or headlamp

A gift card to a local coffee shop or hardware store — feels practical and still thoughtful

Seasonal / Weather-Friendly

A warm beanie or gloves (especially nice in winter)

A cooler bag with snacks if they like outdoor stuff

A thermos or travel mug for daily use

I'm just happy to be flat/green. :nana:
Stocked up on beer and tequila.

900gal propane take is reading full and generator is prepped.

Will cover citrus on Saturday morning and the camper is drained and water unhooked.

Any ice in Lake Charles on Monday and I'll take a pto day. I'm not crossing 210.

I bet she was fun.

Danelectro is underrated, btw.
Only experience I have with Chicago is going to Cubs games and hanging around Wrigleyville. We did take the Red Line to South Chicago once so my Dad could go to Buddy Guy's Blues Bar. Crazy how the landscape changes in just a handful of train stops.

Planning on Wrigley early summer this year. :nana:

Cold Weather Citrus protections

Posted by LSURoss on 1/20/26 at 3:40 pm
I have several juvenile citrus trees. We usually just cover with a blanket then trash bag in cold weather.

With the forcast showing multiple hours below freezing, what are yalls go to fo freeze protection?

TIA
