Kentucky is targeting Baylor coach Scott Drew to replace John Calipari, with one source telling NJ Advance Media the two sides are in talks.

Drew, 53, is said to have a strong relationship with Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart, the point man on hiring Calipari’s replacement. Drew is 466-255 for his career and led Baylor to the school’s only NCAA championship in 2021 in the bubble, when Barnhart was the Men’s Basketball Committee chair.

Been pretty obvious the whole time. Things will get messy if they fumble this and he turns them down though.

Can’t imagine UK fans being excited about this, tbh. The guy they just kicked out has a vastly superior resume, doesn’t he?

Sounds like they are going to throw everything including the kitchen sink at whoever they want, He makes 2.7 million at Baylor. Though that’s a lot of money to me he’s looking at life changing money.

I could take plenty of criticism for 3 times his current salary.

Drew is a better fit at Kentucky. He can coach, and recruiting is not the problem in Kentucky. I could see this being good for both schools.

It's from a UConn beat writer FWIW.

That said, everybody knows that Drew may also get a call. He's buddies with Barnhart. And it's a good hire as well if that happens.

Be a very good hire. Don't think he wants the job though. He has everything needed at Baylor without the BS from fans.

Sincerely, I hope y’all get a good coach, the conference needs y’all to be contenders.

Plus I’d like to return to the days when our games against one another mean something. Heck, we used to play on Super Bowl Sunday for crying out loud.

No one says he's not a bad coach, but he didn't remotely meet expectations the last few years given all the talent he brought in.
