You made this political, so here's some answers you will hate:
- the super wealthy monopolists love socialism because it inhibits the common people and upper middle class from becoming their competition. They hate a market that is truly free. They love monopolies.
- guess who basically does not pay taxes? The super rich
- guess who lobbied for the first ever income taxes in this nation? The super rich
- check out who bought up Russian oil fields after the Bolshevik revolution...some of the same people who bankrolled the Bolshevik revolution
- so guess what communism does? It aids monopolists, only on a grander scale than socialism

Conclusion: guess who is getting out of paying their taxes in these largest cities?
The super rich in those cities.
Same as they've always done

Oh good, so we can all agree with "frick the ultra rich". Can we stop playing this left vs right game of distraction and go get the torches and pitch forks now?

Birmingham laughs at all of your cities "on the brink" of bankruptcy and says to come back when you've actually declared bankruptcy.
Birmingham didn't declare bankruptcy. It was Jefferson County and a couple of Republicans that were commissioners at the time were just as culpable as the Democrats. We're still paying for it each month on our sewer bill. Literally money flushed down the toilet.

Nola could easily get out of debt if they just made a weed tourist destination. Good food and music

Dallas ... interesting
Dallas had an idiot investing their retirement funds in California real estate when the bubble burst. Now they were hoping the state would bail them out with their surplus they have every year, but the state so far has given them the Heisman. Hopefully they will continue to do so.
Years and years of liberal control is the main problem in Dallas with one after another going to jail, and some skating.

Climate change is harming Miami's economy. It is a major reason as to why I hope the B1G stays out of South Florida.

No idiot, the OP listed fours cities. All I was saying is two of the four are Republican, contrary to what several posters assumed. I have no political agenda here. Just providing facts.

The answer to this problem is let Joe B hold a sleepover with the Mayors of these 4 cities at the White House. They could sit down and put their heads together and come up with how much money each city needs. Then the president can write each a check for the help they must have. . Problem solved.

quote:I'm not sure about the other cities, but Dallas is blue and has been for decades now. Of course the city just 30 miles to the west (Fort Worth) is purplish red and not only not near bankruptcy, but growing faster than Dallas.
Can you give us some detailed demographics on these? Which political parties control them (blue or red), for how long, etc.
